"Magnetic Circuit", also known as "calm4", is a song by Markus Persson. It was included as music for testing in Java Edition Classic 0.0.22a for around an hour before it was removed because Notch thought "it was horrible and didn't fit at all."[2] It seems to have briefly been available from the minecraft.net resources from around December 16-17, 2010 and was removed sometime from December 22-27, 2010.

Track description

[edit | edit source]

The track is 3 minutes and 13 seconds long, consisting of an upbeat synth, battle-like tune. At 1:36, a slowed-down sample of Notch saying "Mojang Specifications" can be heard.

History

[edit | edit source]

Notch included calm4.ogg in Java Edition Classic 0.0.22a when he used it to test the music system.[3] It was removed an hour later because Notch thought "it was horrible and didn't fit at all."[2]

It seems to have briefly been available from the minecraft.net resources from around December 16-17, 2010 and was removed sometime from December 22-27, 2010.

With the introduction of the 1.6.1 launcher, playing older versions with the track calm4.ogg does not allow the track to be heard, since music is downloaded separately from the jar files.[dubious]

On February 1, 2020, calm4.ogg was reuploaded by Notch to his SoundCloud page under the name "Magnetic Circuit" after he was questioned about it.[4]
