Data value is 31 and 32. For some reason, I can only place 31 on grass and 32 on sand. --Trollrilla 10:51, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Also, 31 is the same value as long grass.

Yep, it's pretty confusing. Data value 32 is the real Dead Shrub, which can only exist on sand and won't drop any resources. The Tall Grass item type actually has three variants, one of which looks like a Dead Shrub but behaves differently (cannot be placed on sand, will drop a seed sometimes when broken), and more importantly is not naturally found on the map; you have to invedit or map-edit to get it on the map. Would have been nicer if Notch hadn't confused the issue by having the Dead Shrub and the Tall Grass variant look identical. Xolotl 21:36, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

I just tried to mine a Dead Bush in 1.0 with a Golden Axe with Silk Touch I and Efficiency III, but with no luck - it just broke and didn't drop as an item. Does this mean that Silk Touch Axes can no longer be used to obtain a Dead Bush as of 1.0? If so, that sucks...

In 1.9 Dead Bushes drop sticks (assuming 0-2) when mined with any tool, including fists, on the PC version. 81.129.229.139 09:53, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
