Definition of "Interactable"

The page currently equates "interactable" and "Blocks with GUI". In my opinion, this is too narrow and any block that a player can directly influence to change should count as "interactable".

This would include blocks with GUI as currently mentioned, but also

  • buttons, doors, repeaters, daylight detectors, single redstone dust‌[Java Edition only], beds, note blocks etc. by clicking on them
  • beehives, pumpkins, vines by clicking on them with shears
  • vault block by clicking on it with vault keys
  • respawn anchor by clicking on it with glowstone/empty hand
  • candles by clicking on them with flint and steel/empty hand
  • any block with block states by clicking on it with the debug stick

Maybe there can also be a section for indirect interaction:

  • pressure plates, tripwire/tripwire hook, big dripleaf, etc. by standing on them
  • target block, decorated pot, lightning rod (only channeling tridents during thunderstorm), tnt (only flame bow) by shooting it

Some things I'm not sure about if they belong in this:

  • suspicious sand/gravel by clicking on them with a brush
  • any waterloggable block by clicking on them with a water bucket
  • item frames since they're entities and not blocks

Would it make sense to update this page to include interactable blocks without a gui? Or am I mixing something up here when thinking about this concept?

Unresolved

Dispensers, droppers, and crafters are not included on this page. I know they're under the Redstone section, but it almost implies that those 3 blocks aren't interactable, at least from this page. I'm not sure if there is a clean solution that doesn't involve duplicating the block between the Redstone and Interactable blocks categories, so I am just bringing this to the attention of the wiki community

Interactable blocks

it like doesn’t make any sense like why aren’t despensers and droppers on it but hoppers are and I don’t think anyone uses it so maybe delete it (or fix it) Copper Monstrosity (talk) 02:14, 4 October 2025 (UTC)
