No fall damage?

[edit source]
Latest comment: 10 May 20242 comments2 people in discussion

The article currently says that levitated entities do not take fall damage. How can levitation not inflict fall damage? I've never gotten to the point where I am levitated except in creative mode. But a level II levitation would raise me 18 blocks, and I would fall 18 blocks after it wears off. Wouldn't I take fall damage? ~ Amatulic (talk) 21:20, 20 February 2020 (UTC)

it means that if you were to somehow fall with the levitation effect on you, you would not take damage from the fall. it isn't referring to the damage taken after the effect wears off RealSquiddo (talk) 06:24, 10 May 2024 (UTC)

This is a neutral effect, not a negative.

It is only negative when unintended, not when it's from a command block for a lift to places you could't normally can't reach. 188.120.87.87 11:16, 28 April 2020 (UTC)

The wiki follows the game's definition, and the game lists it as negative. FVbico (talk) 11:17, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
Why some of our Educational Collection uses this a billion of times?? Is this just to kill students. This is a neutral effect, it's a bug, because it's neutral..188.120.87.87 13:40, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
While you could treat Levitation as a buff, it only appears in survival when you are attacked by shulkers, and you would rarely get attacked on purpose. The levitation makes it hard to control your movement and can send you to fatal heights. The Blobs👁 Image

A shulker got levitation and it behaved like Fatal Poison. 188.120.87.87 13:44, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

I don't think that's how levitation works. If you believe this is a bug, visit the bug tracker. The Blobs👁 Image

Does Levitation II take the 0.9 blocks per second and make it 1.8 per second? It isn't listed on the page. SteelMerkava (talk) 23:51, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

Does Java Edition 1.20.5 change what Levitation levels above 127 do? If so, then it should be mentioned in the History section. Tim123467 (talk) 04:38, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

Levitation 255 no longer causes the player to stay still in the air

--FeedbackBot 12:46, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
Since 1.20.5, or snapshot 24w06a, level 128~255 float entity upward, and each level adds ~0.9m/s to the velocity, consistent to lower levels. However, in 1.20.1 level 128~255 acted the same as 1, not tested when this behavior started and ended. Hxy123abc (talk) 04:03, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
