My intention when creating this section was to list all of the cases where - A mob converts to another type of mob - A mob converts to a different variant of the same type of mob
My usage of "variant" is quite strict; a simple change in NBT (such as picking up an item, gaining a passenger, etc.) is not in itself a conversion. Accordingly I do not think it makes sense to list charging a creeper, triggering a skeleton trap, or any other changes to the state of a mob as conversions. Copper golems oxidizing is the very limit of what I'm willing to accept as a conversion, and even then it's mostly because they're treated as different variants internally. All this being said, a separate list of "conversion-like events" may make sense, but I personally am against adding it because I can't think of a natural end-point for such a list (is naming a vindicator "Johnny" a conversion-like event?). Should mob block conversions, such as dried ghasts to ghastlings and copper golems to copper golem statues be included? CrockCraftMC (talk) 16:32, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
A rabbit can convert to a toast rabbit when it is named toast so I consider it a conversion
An old villager and old zombie villager can convert to their normal versions when a behavior pack that is in the World that they are is removed so I consider it a conversion
