Template talk:Doc-code

This template is really not depreciated, as substituting it automatically inserts the {{documentation}} template and the note about interwikis/categories. Any reason to not update the doc? –KnightMiner ^(t·c) 02:14, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

On the same topic, this template is suppose to be substituted on both of the sub pages (plus with the doc, it noted depreciation and adds the category twice). –KnightMiner ^(t·c) 02:22, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

No, this template is deprecated; the substitution functionality is only meant to make transitioning to {{Documentation}} a bit easier. If you want to update the documentation here to make that clearer, feel free. 「ディノ奴千？！」^{? · ☎ Dinoguy1000} 05:50, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

The subst functionality isn't just for transitioning. Even if we decide to get rid of the comment about where to put categories/interwikis, {{subst:doc}} is still shorter than {{documentation}}, and substing it on the documentation page will output the documentation preload (if for some reason you haven't gone to the documentation page through the create link). –Majr ᐸ Talk

I updated the doc to reflect the most current usage, and since Majr is planning on keeping it around, I removed it from Category:Deprecated.

On that note, this template on a doc page outputs {{documentation}} instead of the preload, and looking at it code, I cannot figure out why.
