Needs protection

[edit source]
Latest comment: 13 October 20132 comments2 people in discussion

Template pages should be protected so that unregistered users, like me, can't edit them. --130.85.228.24 02:27, 13 October 2013 (UTC)

{{Redstone}} is now protected. As for {{Redstone/content}}, we typically do not protect content pages unless there's a need. Our templates are set up so that the content is not directly transcluded since editing a high-use template could cause server issues depending on how many pages it is on. The /content page is on-demand, meaning it is not directly transcluded anywhere. We like to keep as much information as possible open to all editors, within reason. โ€”Kanegasi โ˜บC 03:04, 13 October 2013 (UTC)

Slime Block

As of 1.8 Slime Blocks will have interaction with pistons (moved as a group), So I want to add things so the things at the section about pistons will like this:

Disagree. Slime blocks require a piston to interact with redstone circuits, while by themselves they only work as trampolines and "brakes" for entities. --Naista2002 (t|c) 13:00, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
Also disagree. In order to qulify as a redstone component, it has to somehow interact with redstone power: generate, transmit, activate, something. โ€”munin ยท ๐Ÿ‘ Image

Command block

The 2D command block image uses the old texture. Also, the article now discusses all 3 varieties af of the 1.9 snapshots, so you might want to use a mishmash of the 3 types, non-arrow face. 108.210.218.142 17:01, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Proposed navbox changes

[edit source]
Latest comment: 6 August 20243 comments3 people in discussion

I would like to make a few changes to the redstone navbox, but I don't feel comfortable unilaterally making significant changes to a navbox, so I would appreciate some feedback on the following:

  • Add a category called "Redstone basics" under "Redstone circuits & tutorials", and include Redstone mechanics, Redstone components (currently under the Redstone circuits category), and Conductivity (opaque and transparent blocks).
    • These pages give an introduction to basic redstone ideas and blocks.
  • Remove "Opaque and transparent blocks" from the "Other" subcategory under "Redstone components"; that does not refer to redstone components, and the links for that entry go to Opacity, which talks about light rendering, and not the idea of opaque and transparent in terms of redstone (that is discussed in Conductivity).
  • If we want to leave "Opaque and transparent blocks" under Other Redstone components, to have the links changed from Opacity to Conductivity.
  • Change the link in "tutorials" of "Redstone circuits and tutorials" from Tutorials#Redstone_and_mechanisms to Tutorials/Redstone, the former page is a general list of tutorials including some redstone tutorials, the latter is a page dedicated to just redstone tutorials

Wait No change will be made until we decide on whether we should split navboxes TreeIsLife (talk) 05:58, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
I don't think these changes are too controversial. I would say they are a logical change that dramatically improves the navigation experience. Also see MCW:Be bold.
Navbox data collection has started, but it will be several months bare minimum before we have enough data regarding whether navboxes can be split. There is no need to hold back a minor change because we need to wait 4 months to do a major, drastic change. This change only affects like 1 or two lines on a single page, and doesn't require updating hundreds of pages that a navbox split would require. Delvin4519 (talk) 03:11, 6 August 2024 (UTC)

Who Gets this Navbox?

[edit source]
Latest comment: 15 October 20251 comment1 person in discussion

I recently reordered this navbox and added more components, but I'm unsure whether to add it onto every single block and entity page it lists, including things like scaffolding and walls. That feels a bit excessive.

It might be worth putting new rules in place for which pages get this navbox or not, but I genuinely don't know. I'm not gonna do anything, other than maybe add/remove the navbox to some pages if I feel it's really out of place, but if anyone else has any ideas, feel free to try them.
