???? Looks like nooby page... (no offense to creator) PurpleKiwi 00:42, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

I tried to rewrite the page. It needs now more informations for Mac and Linux. --Freaktechnik 16:24, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
Added Mac instructions and cleaned up some false information. .ZIPs and .RARs are recommended, but only because they have smaller file sizes. Ebu11 (talk) 21:11, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

Old Saves

[edit source]

What is the earliest version of MC whose saves still work in the current version? (I'm not talking about redstone things not breaking or minor things like that, but actual ingame chunk data loading correctly.) Knowing this would save a lot of time downloading obsoleted saves. --Anonymous

Like on a lot of other Minecraft websites, the term 'map' is confusing, as most people talk about the world instead of the map files (the graphical data files for maps created in the game), making it near impossible to find anything about the topic... –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.74.48.183 (talk) at 22:12, 27 July 2015 (UTC).  Agree. To prevent confusion, I too agree with the name change. -GunslingerN7, Technology and Gaming Freelancer (Talk) 22:42, 1 April 2018 (UTC)

Scan files with an antivirus program

I would like to suggest an extra step in the process: scan the .zip/.rar file with an antivirus program. Thoughts?

It doesn't work :(

i tried doing exactly this, and whenever i type (on mac) the place to find the save file, it isn't there! i tried finding it within the Minecraft files itself, and i didn't find it. this is the last thing i need to do, everything else is very straightforward. if you could respond with a solution, that would be great!ElectroDragon45 (talk) 04:18, 13 July 2018 (UTC)

Some users may be using Minecraft for Windows 10 instead of Minecraft Java Edition. Let's make a separate section for it. --OdorlessBasil98 (talk) 17:27, 15 October 2020 (UTC)OdorlessBasil98

In here, the seems to be no tutorial for Bedrock Edition. Should I add them? β€”SuperDragonXD1 (talk) 06:09, 23 June 2021 (UTC)

I have MCbeta in my phone and i want to export my world. The tutorial says:

β€’ On Android, make sure that you last played the world you want to export. Then open your files, go to πŸ‘ File directory.png: Sprite image for directory in Minecraft
/data/user, select the folder with your user ID and go to πŸ‘ File directory.png: Sprite image for directory in Minecraft
com.mojang.minecraftpe/games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds. Now set the sorting order to newest first, open the first folder and verify that it's the correct one by checking the πŸ‘ File file.png: Sprite image for file in Minecraft
levelname file. Finally select all of it's contents, compress them and rename the resulting zip archive to world name.mcworld. You can now share this file with others.

But when I tried (using Files by marc apps and software), the folders were empty??? Is it just my phone or is that really a beta thing?

What is MCbeta? That was never mentioned in the tutorial page. ‑‑MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 02:08, 20 May 2026 (UTC)
Sorry, my shorthand for Minecraft beta lol ~2026-DeepslateGhastSpider13460 (talk) 02:07, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
Is πŸ‘ File directory.png: Sprite image for directory in Minecraft
minecraftWorlds empty or does it not exist? If it doesn't, can you try looking through the last folder in the path that exists for any folders similar to the one missing? For example if πŸ‘ File directory.png: Sprite image for directory in Minecraft
com.mojang.minecraftpe doesn't exist there might be a folder like πŸ‘ File directory.png: Sprite image for directory in Minecraft
minecraftpebeta in πŸ‘ File directory.png: Sprite image for directory in Minecraft
 /data/user/your user ID.
Unfortunately I don't have Bedrock Edition to search for it myself. Thefrostypixel (talk) 04:11, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
