Welcome to BabylonAS’ talk page! Ask your questions to this user here.

Use the “Add topic” tab (desktop, on top) or button (mobile, at the bottom), or this link, to add a new section. If using the regular page editor instead of quick reply/new topic, don’t forget to sign your message using four tildes: ~~~~. These symbols would be replaced upon saving with your user name and the message’s timestamp.

I also speak Russian and understand a bit of Ukrainian, but that could not be said about most EnMCW users (including administrators), so writing in English is still preferred.

Do you play console?

I'm looking for people who do. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 14:36, 1 July 2016 (UTC)

Not only do I not play the Console Edition. I don’t have Minecraft at all, because it costs 1,900 roubles (I live in Russia), which is pretty expensive. — NickTheRed37 (issues’ wall) 15:16, 1 July 2016 (UTC)
Oh, I see. And recently they marked it up by 35% too ... hmph. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 16:29, 1 July 2016 (UTC)
There is a way to get the game legally, even in these conditions. It is done by the so-called gift codes (unfortunately, there is no separate article for them: gift code redirects to Minecraft#Purchase and availability, where is no information about how to buy them). That’s how it works: a person buys such a code, then gives it to another one (usually a friend), who activates (“redeems”) it here and thus gets access to the license. The recipient doesn’t have to pay, only their friend. A gift code costs as much as a buying the license directly, but, as it’s well known, costs differ in each country (it’s $26.95 in U.S., in stark contrast to 1,900 RUB). — NickTheRed37 (issues’ wall) 17:02, 1 July 2016 (UTC)
Hm that's interesting. So I google for the currency exchange rate, and find that 1900 RUB comes to something like 29 USD. But I know these rates are of only limited use, to compare two costs.
So I wonder, for comparison, is the cost of living different? In the US, Boston anyway, we would pay $1.50 for a loaf of bread (120 Minecraft games), maybe $3 for a gallon (4 liters) of milk, $3 for a dozen eggs (each 110 Minecraft games). Minimum wage is $10.00/hr ($400/week or 15 Minecraft games) and median rent in the city is on the order of $2500/month (~1000 Minecraft games). – Sealbudsman talk/contr 18:49, 1 July 2016 (UTC)
I didn’t look for the costs you’re asking for, so I don’t know that. wikipedia:Russia–United States relations#Country comparison shows comparison between some of our countries’ characteristics, including economics (although much of data appears to be outdated). (Currently one dollar is worth 64.02 roubles.) — NickTheRed37 (issues’ wall) 12:00, 2 July 2016 (UTC)
Prices: In the Moscow region: 20–35 RUR for a loaf of bread (250–400 gram); 60–80 RUR for 950ml of milk; ~50 RUR for 10 eggs; Minimum wage is 27–28 RUR/hr (5'965 RUR/month or ~2.5 Minecraft copy). RUR: Russian Rouble. Sorry for date message. Sorry for my English. — Ivan-r ru.Wiki Admin 20:39, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for your information, Ivan-r. — 176.59.38.4 (NickTheRed37, forcibly logged out due to COPPA) 08:27, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
Yes, thank you. No problem about your English or the date. Today I learn two things; eggs can be sold in packs of 10, and based on those numbers, Mojang really seems to have priced their game based on currency exchange rate, and not on cost of living considerations. I wonder if such pricing is common practice? – Sealbudsman talk/contr 12:52, 14 August 2016 (UTC)

You are forcibly signed out, due to COPPA? How so? – Sealbudsman talk/contr 12:59, 14 August 2016 (UTC)

Recently Curse started suspending or removing accounts that were registered by users younger than 13 years, in accordance to the U. S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (and Curse servers are hosted in U. S.). That law completely doesn’t tell knowledge apart from age, among other things. (The minimal age in Russia when one is recognized as “teen” is 12, not 13.) --176.59.38.4 13:21, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
Problem solved. Now I can use my account again. — NickTheRed37 (issues’ wall) 13:10, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
Oh wow. Did you have to appeal, or something? – Sealbudsman talk/contr 14:39, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
Yes. — NickTheRed37 (issues’ wall) 14:58, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
That could explain why I can't access my GunslingerN7 account. Not going to appeal though because I have a new account. TheFallenOneGOTH (talk) 13:33, 27 August 2016 (UTC)

I spoke with Majr about your claim and he said no. Feel free to pursue it with him — Game widow (talk) 18:03, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

Well then. I’ve at least tried, because the already existing users don’t appear to have enough knowledge to deal with technical matters and advanced wiki editing. Now, instead, I suggest appointing MustaphaTR a second administrator so LambayaFunfDe would have more time to communicate with me over IRC (#trminecraftwiki) should they ever enter that channel. Majr, can you do that? — NickTheRed37 (talk | RU) 06:18, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
To new readers: this is about the new Turkish wiki. — NickTheRed37 (talk | RU) 06:33, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
Majr said he was handling it, so please let him know — Game widow (talk) 11:26, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
Why do you need to be an admin to deal with technical matters and "advanced wiki editing". Other than the MW namespace, and the main page, none of the pages should be protected yet, so you're hardly handicapped by not being an admin. One admin is adequate for a new wiki. MajrTalk

Either way, I will remain on the Turkish wiki so I can help it develop and give advices to its editors. — NickTheRed37 (talk | RU) 12:08, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
And now, almost a month later, LambayaFunfDe has went missing (for two and a half weeks), along with other users at the time. His last edit was on July 27, and no edits were made by anyone other than me updating my username, Violine1101’s bot account placing Czech interwiki links, a single edit by a Turkish novice user, creation of two empty pages by an anonymous user that haven’t been deleted yet, and Game widow fixing an interwiki prefix. The Turkish wiki, which had a good level of activity for a new wiki, is recessing. — BabylonAS ( | ru.Wiki Admin) (fka NickTheRed37) 14:16, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
You can't expect LambyaFunfDe to take care of the wiki full-time. After all, it's vacation time right now, maybe they are on vacation. Also, a wiki does not necessarily need an admin to be active. The missing part is the users. That's not exclusively an issue with the Turkish wiki – other (older) Minecraft wikis have this problem as well (for example the Italian wiki). | violine1101(Talk) 14:40, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

Because of how many pages I have in my user spaces on both English and Russian wikis (the latter is my main area of activity), this would take a lot of time. Actually, many of these redirects may need to be deleted, because they are not used (I really need to clean up my userspace in the English wiki...). — BabylonAS ( | ru.Wiki Admin) (fka NickTheRed37) 07:34, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

Tagging CSS/JS for deletion

[edit source]
Latest comment: 1 October 20174 comments2 people in discussion

How do you tag CSS or JS files for deletion? Adding {{delete}} only adds those text as part of those files. – Dentedharp90041tce 09:10, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

One way to tag stylesheets, JS scripts or Lua modules is to create a documentation using {{Delete}} template (but not inside <noinclude> tags, in order to make the script, stylesheet or module appear in Category:Pending deletion), but it may not be necessarily supported by a wiki. A more radical way is to change the content model of that page to wikitext (a procedure I have used on the Russian wiki multiple times in order to create redirects to JS scripts and modules), wrap the code within <pre> tags, and add the template as on a usual wiki page. — BabylonAS ( | ru.Wiki Admin) (fka NickTheRed37) 14:19, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

Thanks! I never knew a special page called Special:ChangeContentModel.
Also, checking Special:Log/contentmodel, I'm the first one to change the content model of pages. – Dentedharp90041tce 06:20, 1 October 2017 (UTC)
This particular instrument is not something commonly used. I am myself the second to use this instrument on Russian wiki (after Ivan-r), and there are no log entries on that wiki dated before January 24, 2017. — BabylonAS ( | ru.Wiki Admin) (fka NickTheRed37) 12:47, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi! I left a similar message to KnightMiner, and I wanted to write to you too. This is the first time I see the Wiki in almost 8 years, and I was overcome with nostalgia and a wonderful feeling when I looked through my contributions and old user pages.

I saw you included me in the "some cool people" list on your user page. Thanks for not forgetting me, even after so many years :)

And I'll ask the same to you: I've lost access to my account. Do you know if it's possible to merge accounts here? I'd love to get my account back. –LauraFi - talk | logged out as 181.85.7.92 08:04, 22 October 2025 (UTC)

Hi! AFAIK your last edits on MCW were from 2017, and there were two account migrations that happened since then: from Gamepedia to Fandom and from Fandom to here. If you never migrated your account during the Fandom transition, then I fear it won't be possible to migrate it further here. Though it's better to ask our new hosters, they might be more knowledgeable about this. Babylon 08:41, 22 October 2025 (UTC)
Since your account doesn't have the -legacy suffix it should somehow be possible to log into it on Fandom (try either login via Twitch or a password reset). After that you should be able to use the account migration tool normally: Special:MigrateUserAccount Dianliang233 (talk) 02:44, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for your answers. I can't log into my account here or on Fandom, my password doesn't work. I can't reset it because I lost access to my email (that's my fault, but I created it over 11 years ago and don't use it anymore), although maybe that wouldn't work either.
@Dianliang233: Isn't my account already migrated here? The user LauraFi already exists, along with the user pages and contributions (Special:Contribs/LauraFi). If I create a new account, is it possible to merge it with the old one? I know it was possible on the old Curse/Gamepedia Wiki. –LauraFi - talk | logged out as 181.85.31.80 06:54, 25 October 2025 (UTC)
Unfortunately, judging by this comment, merging accounts is not possible now. And even if it was, Weird Gloop would need specific proof that the old account is yours. — Babylon 07:03, 25 October 2025 (UTC)
I'll create a new account then :) –LauraFi - talk | logged out as 181.85.31.80 07:59, 25 October 2025 (UTC)
I've already created my new account. Now I'll wait to have autoconfirmed status to fix my old user pages. –LauraFi - talk 22:51, 25 October 2025 (UTC)
What requirements would need to be given to Weird Gloop, then? Rert 22:57, 25 October 2025 (UTC)
Uh... did you read my message accurately? I've said that merging accounts is not possible. — Babylon 05:03, 26 October 2025 (UTC)
Oh hey, I remember you as well! Welcome back!
Yeah, sadly for technical reasons it's not always possible to retrieve / merge accounts, you're not the first one who this is happening to. Best to just keep using your new account! :) | violine1101 (talk) 17:41, 26 October 2025 (UTC)
Thank you! Yeah, it's a shame we aren't able to merge accounts. –LauraFi - talk 19:10, 26 October 2025 (UTC)

Hi! I saw your comment on the Forum and the Discord chat (I've finally created an account!). I'm very grateful for the nomination and I accept it, so feel free to create a new Forum topic if you want. –LauraFi - talk 08:23, 15 February 2026 (UTC)

That comment in the forum was rather rough (being made in response to a different user self-nominating, without saying anything specifically about that user; I felt that creating a separate forum post in parallel would be too much hassle) and I was quite rude to people who pointed that out. It was taken down soon after. I could not bring myself to properly nominate you since then as I was afraid I had put you off, and even though you seem to not mind, I am still hesitant. You may nominate yourself though, and I will gladly support. — Babylon 08:36, 15 February 2026 (UTC)
Alright, I'll nominate myself soon when I find the right moment to do so. –LauraFi - talk 21:02, 15 February 2026 (UTC) (Last edited on 07:10, 27 February 2026 (UTC))
