For your information (I've seen your edit summary on .minecraft): .minecraft/assets is part of the launcher directory, not the game directory. - @Grzesiek11, exactly. I would add that a game only uses the "assets" directory, in similar way like "libraries",
- and the "assets" dir is specified for a running game by javaw.exe command-line parameters:
