Hi there!

I'm less active on here than I used to be, but I still check my talk page frequently, so feel free to leave a message :D

Hey there! If you haven't heard, we've decided to move away from Fandom to a new, independent wiki. I noticed you've contributed quite a bit, so I'd really appreciate your input on our skin designs for the new wiki, whether you think we should enable dark or light mode by default, and if you have any other feedback. You can leave your feedback on this page. I hope you can join us over there! - Harristic (talk) 15:21, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

Licensing

[edit source]
Latest comment: 22 November 20238 comments3 people in discussion

Hello Plighting Engineerd, I just wanted to let you know that, when uploading files, there is an option to add a liscence to them. Please do this. It prevents it from appearing in the unlicensed files category. That way we don't have to do it ourselves. Thanks! --ThatOneWolf (talk|contribs) 22:15, 21 November 2023 (UTC)

User:ThatOneWolf Sorry about that! I was unsure as to what license to use given that I made the graphic that I was uploading though, what would be the right license for that? 👁 Image
plighting_engineerd () 23:01, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
I'd say tick the one that says "This file is in the public domain". It won't appear in the category I mentioned, and we don't have to do anything to it. --ThatOneWolf (talk|contribs) 23:10, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
Unfortunately, there is no option that says "I made this file". --ThatOneWolf (talk|contribs) 23:11, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
Ok thank you! 👁 Image
plighting_engineerd () 01:10, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
I'd say "This file is copyrighted, but use is permitted by the copyright holder" applies to this case. –Sonicwave talk 01:19, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
That one would work too. --ThatOneWolf (talk|contribs) 01:28, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
Thanks, done! 👁 Image

Signature font broken

The font of your signature looks broken for me because of a missing font fallback. Please change your signature to this:

<spanstyle="font-family:Rubik,sans-serif;color:yellow;font-weight: bold;text-shadow: 0px 0px 5px black, 1px 1px black;">plighting_engineerd</span> (talk)

You're editing sculk catalyst?

[edit source]
Latest comment: 8 February 20243 comments2 people in discussion

I noticed you put this on Sculk Catalyst:

 • {Currently editing|Don't bother editing this section for a little while, it is being rewritten|section=1}}

But it looks like you haven't done anything to the page in a while. --Simanelix (talk) 13:40, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

Update, it has been (was) 7 hours since Plighting_Engineerd put the tag there.
Also, I should mention: the Chinese page (https://zh.minecraft.wiki/w/%E5%B9%BD%E5%8C%BF%E5%82%AC%E5%8F%91%E4%BD%93) actually has some great information on how sculk spreading works. Unfortunately, it's Chinese, and I don't know Chinese, so it's not exactly the most helpful thing in the world, but it still gives me some ideas on how I could make the English page better. Finally, I definitely need to make the English page more formal. It's kinda informal, like some sort of rough draft right now, and that needs fixed. --Simanelix (talk)
Sorry about that. I meant to update that notice. I am working on editing that section in my sandbox, but didn't get around to finishing it last night. I'm going to finish it tonight, but I just wanted to put a notice there because there is no use editing that section since I'm rewriting it, though I understand that's not the right notice for it. 👁 Image
plighting_engineerd () 16:08, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
Don't worry about it. I'm pretty sure I'm the only person watching that page anyways. Also, thanks for deciding to improve it. --Simanelix (talk) 00:08, 8 February 2024 (UTC)

Questions about the structure images upload for 24w14potato

Hi I'm StizzurpXDD and I have been editing and improving the 24w14poatao wiki page lately. As I am working on addition of the sub-topic 'Additional Structures' under the 'Structures' topic, I would like to ask how did you get isometric view of the structures with transparent background as seen in these images:-

It would be really helpful if you provided me with the information. – StizzurpXDDtalk | contribs 11:06, 2 April 2024 (UTC)

Hi @StizzurpXDD! Thanks for helping with the page! Most of how I got the renders is covered in Help:Isometric renders#Structures, but I'll go over my exact method here:
 1. I created an empty void world with structures turned off so that the background is blank.
 2. I used the /place structure command to place the structure (or in the case of the mineshaft specifically, I just reconstructed part of it by hand)
 3. I then installed and activated the Orthographic view texture pack to make the world isometric
 4. Then, I used the command to get the standardized angle facing northwest: /tp @s ~ ~ ~ 135 30
 5. After that, I configured the zoom of the texture pack, which is located in resourcepacks\OrthographicShaderRP\assets\minecraft\shaders\include\ortho_config.glsl, which you can edit with notepad until the zoom makes the structure fit your screen without going off the edges. After you edit the value, press F3 + t in game to update it. (Keep in mind the zoom doesn't have to be perfect, you're gonna crop the image later).
 6. Then, you're ready to take your screenshot. Double check that you're all lined up, maybe run /tp @s ~ ~ ~ 135 30 one more time in case your mouse got bumped, then press F2.
 7. Once my screenshot was taken, I used this online tool to remove the background by uploading the image, clicking on the sky, clicking "set transparency key", then clicking OK twice and downloading the image. (note: if it says the image is too big, use a lossless png compressor like is talked about in Help:Isometric renders#Optimization
 8. After that, just open your transparent screenshot in literally any image editor that supports transparency and crop it to the edges of the structure.
 9. Finally, you can compress the file like is talked about in Help:Isometric renders#Structures
 10. Then, your file is done! And you can upload it to the wiki.
(Thanks to Oakar who helped me with this process when I was learning about it)
If you have any more questions about the proccess, feel free to ask 👁 Image

Can you help me to make an userbox?

[edit source]
Latest comment: 22 September 20243 comments2 people in discussion

I'm not good at code editing,so can you help me to make it? LIL (talk) 12:57, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

Sure! Most of the information you'll need is on MCW:Userboxes and Template:Userbox. Essentially, create a subpage of the Userbox page. To do that, type in the url https://minecraft.wiki/w/Minecraft_Wiki:Userboxes/YourUserboxName (replacing that last bit with the name of your userbox). Then, create the page using the button on the page, and copy and paste the template found at Template:Userbox#Usage. You can then modify the parameters to be whatever you want.
To add a userbox to your page, use (again, replacing that last bit with the name of your userbox).
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! 👁 Image

Previous Splash Text

Hey, when I was on your userpage previously, it showed your Plighting Minecraft-style logo with a splash text, but it seems that you removed the splash format. Would you mind giving me a link to your userpage history for when you removed it, so that I can get the source for it? - 👁 Image

Hi! The text was still there I just temporarily changed the style sheet for a different project. It's working again now. To answer your question, the messages are in the source for User:Plighting_Engineerd, and the relevant styling is in User:Plighting Engineerd/sandbox/styles.css. If you want to use it yourself, you'll need to create a CSS subpage of your user page for styling, then have an admin change it to be Sanitized CSS (you can look that up if you're wondering what it is). Then, you'll need to use Template:TSLoader with the name of your CSS page as the first parameter. That will apply all the styles of the CSS style sheet to your user page. If you need help finding the exact CSS styles or text, feel free to reply! 👁 Image

Who exactly did you ask to make it Sanitized CSS?
