THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Awesome episode! Man, I hope Valentine doesn't die. Also, I wonder if they'll discover who the the culprit is, since the only persons who knows, besides the Count, is Valentines grandfather who can't speak nor move (?).
| Poor Valentine. She's one of the nicest characters I know of. So of course she gets poisoned. :| |
I'm curious.. What was in the box that made Madame Danglars freak out? (sorry if you consider this necroposting, mwahha ^-^;;)
Crazy episode O_O from the last scene is it possible that Madame Danglars child or some memoir of the child is in the chest @_@? This is going in a weird direction.

Villetta_Nu said: MiiCiel said: I'm curious.. What was in the box that made Madame Danglars freak out? I want to know the same thing. Saaame. Also... They better not kill off Valentine. :( I agree with Franz and Albert -- I want both her and Maxmilien to be happy... |
Did anyone else think the art and overall animation of this episode was a bit different from the others? I can see the art difference mostly in the eyes {for example, the Count's eyes were... bigger?}, and the animation difference mostly in the part where Bertuccio runs to the Count's side as Franz watches from the shadows. They seem very different from the normally straight-line animation and art in the previous episodes. Not to say I don't like it. This is one of my favorite episodes. I think the Count is just so cute! >w< Did anyone else notice it? What do you take of it?
good episode, but i didn't really understand some of it, i want to watch the next one!
I thought this was a poor episode. Many scenes were rushed and misplaced.

And she's dead! Good episode though sad and mysterious ending! What's in that box?
Great episode... I hope Valentina will not die, but I doubt it... I'm also interested in what's in that box? And who is that arrogant blond guy who hangs around the Count? He getting on my nerves!
Poor innocent Valentine, although I felt just as bad for the grandfather. And I just realized, the voice of the count and Andrea are also respectively the same as the voices Kirei and Gilgamesh from Fate. Such a great duo of manly evil voices.

"Thou art anathema!" Great episode here, but Sickly_Grin said: I thought this was a poor episode. Many scenes were rushed and misplaced. yes, it was. Captivating, it is. At least.
"If you reject me, I'll blast a hole in you!" Kanzaki H. Aria Just kidding.
Am I the only one who thinks Franz maybe has feelings for Albert? no homo Knowing the Count, I won't be surprised if this killing of Valentine is a part of his plan..
Kagami_Hiiragi said: Idc if you think its weird, I have a life and friends and an income of money. |

Hannah_Ana said: It should be obvious from all hints in this episode (nam. Mme. Danglars' words and the Count's at the end) that the box had Villefort's child in it, which was buried alive right after its birth.MiiCiel said: I'm curious.. | The Count continues to maintain the status of ultimate badass. |
Thou art anathema! This got confusing all of a sudden. Not 100% certain I understood everything that happened. I mean, first of all, who would buy the Count leaving on a "business trip" late at night right after everyone had left the party? :P And I also got the impression the one Franz has feelings for is Albert.

Yeah maybe Franz does like Albert, that'd be so damn adorableeeeee!!! :3 Poor Valentine. Yeah, who'd buy that two seconds after everyone left a party at their house they'd go on a business trip. I was like "no he didn't, no one would do that" lol. Poor Albert too.
How does Albert factor into the count's plans? I'm wondering if it has to do with him being the son of his mother. Poor Valentine. And her grandfather was crying because he knew she was poisoned too. I could tell they were very close. So sad. :( Poor Franz as well. Also what's with the zombie baby? If that is what is in the box.

Obviously, he loves him. Please don't die, Valentine. That poor butler :/ |
This is why you have your servant taste the drink first. Now they need a new butler. That baby in the box is pretty nasty but very realistic. In the time that the book was written there was no birth control or abortion clinics. Lots of babies ended up drowned or left in the woods as midnight snack for foxes and wolves.
Another good episode, still wonder what Count is gaining from all this.
Man, its been a long time since i've seen an anime being intense af like that.
I'm at least a little bit certain Franz has feelings for Albert considering whenever Albert brings up the topic of love, Franz starts staring at Albert and getting vague. Don't need anything overt but hints here and there are nice haha. I really hope Valentine doesn't die though. Like what's the deal with her mother? Even the Count doesn't seem to like her much.
The show is getting darker with each episode, though a lot of things are missing, and why the poison had an effect on the servant and not much on Valentine?
Loving how the seeds that the Count are planting in each of them are sprouting
I'm Bruneian and I like anime. And Manchester United. And fat cats.
Too sad the arranged marriage of Valentine and Franz.
Franz, after all that low-key baiting, don't tell me you actually feel that way for Albert... No wonder he has no interest towards women. He's all for that bromance~ Hell, the closest romantic encounter Albert's ever had since the beginning of the anime was with a dude. I'm so pissed off towards that godforsaken bitch Heloise. She unintentionally did Albert in when she left the poisoned pitcher in the open like that and she actually had the gall to poison Valentine right in front of her grandfather like that. The old man saw the butler dying before his very eyes, his granddaughter being in severe condition, and the whore who did it peeking through the glass at the corner of his eye. He looked like he was very traumatized by the incident but his inability to talk might make it impossible for the truth to come out. Way to ruin everything for everyone else. Even the Count's sick of your clingy shit. Looks like the thing in the box was actually a dried Villefort bastard all along, oof. Wonder what his glowing forehead's got to do with anything.
That blonde guy would fit in perfectly in the Jojo universe. I hope Valentine doesn’t die she seemed so pleasant. I wonder why the count is cold shouldering valentines step mom maybe he is regretting the poison. Also I love the music at the end helped bring this dramatic feel to the scene with the dead baby.
Dr-Eyes said: The show is getting darker with each episode, though a lot of things are missing, and why the poison had an effect on the servant and not much on Valentine? My guess is that probably because of older age = weak immune system. |
I guess Valentine is the illicit child Gangkutsuo mentioned in the end.
Lol the Gankutsuou title never been so chad. I liked when his henchman supported Gankutsuou with undying loyalty. Also the murderer from the first episode snooping on the spy and the executioner. Perhaps it is all staged. I was expecting him to almost break into a niconiconii pose by this point. by god this man has got utter trauma potential. 👁 Image I still need to know what the hell happened to Eugene. Also the Gilgamesh expy before there was Gilgamesh says he knows more about the count than Albert does. And there is even talk of Franz and love, which I think is pretty suggestive. Jeez, u can't get any more BL than this. There is still a huge mystery on what is the terrible secret of the room and half the questions posed are not even close to answering but by god, it is interesting AF. Gankutsuou is pretty much a captivating charmer and he is pretty entertaining. Next episode, will Valentine survive or will she die in order for the BL pairings to take root?
👁 Image Without change,we end up becoming the very person we hate. I was dead until the moment I met you. I was a powerless corpse pretending to be alive. Living without power, without the ability to change my course, was bound to lead me to a slow death.
Honestly, Maximilien and Valentine feel like they came from a different genre (probably a sweet romantic shoujo anime) and are stuck in this hell show lol.
Same as in the book, new blonde is a son of these 2 that they tried to bury (in that exact box I guess). Also, damn Albert has way more luck with men than with women :)
I hate everyone equally
All this queer moments make me want to rewatch Utena even more
I hate everyone equally
Also, as far as I remember, the poison given to Valentine was fake and she survived. Count has no intention of purposely hurting children of his enemies.
I hate everyone equally
That was amazing. What a wonderful episode. Pathetic Fallacy with Rain is always the best thing. Classical music as the OST really elevated the richness of the last scene. Amazing.
It's crazy how much trust Albert has in the Count. I mean, the incident happened at the Count's place, so I think it's normal for him to suspect the Count as a possible perpetrator (despite the fact that it really wasn't him). I know that Valentine is not an outstanding character, but I also don't expect her to be the first character to die/suffer here. Meanwhile, Valentine's stepmother is completely attached to the Count, she keeps approaching him in every chance she gets. Both Eugenie and Valentine, these girls have shit families.
