| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- HOLY JESUS! This episode was so intence. I was prepared for some of the violence and gore and shit. Buy Mayu's backstory holy crap that just shocked the hell out of me. I was not prepared for the emotinoal roller coaster this series takes you on. I can tell you this. I will not be watching this series twice, despite the fact it is a masterpiece. |

| I'm finally convinced to score this a 10, a score that I've only given to two other series in my list. I don't think I've ever seen an anime brave enough to use pedophilia in a backstory like that before. But I now definitely know how it makes me feel. I fully believe that Elfen Lied is a work of art. |
| Seeing Professor Kakuzawa's head fly was the highlight for me in the manga so far. Seeing it animated was just as good. And Mayu's backstory left me just as depressed. I don't think I'll ever give this anime a 10 (manga is way better, and it'll be on a ten at the way it's going), but this show definitely deserves a 9. |

| Meh, I didn't feel all that sorry for Mayu. The story could have been told better I suppose in my opinion, but yes it sucks. The best part was Lucy's real self, shes's great. Kouta or whatever is lame, can't stand him. |
| Good GOD, this episode was awesome. And man, I'd want to beat the crap out of both Mayu's mom and her stepdad. Her stepdad of course, but her mom's no Mother of the year either. She didn't even care. |

| Mayu's the only character I honestly care for atm, but her story wasn't conveyed very well...it could have been much more touching. And I loathed how that dog's owner had to be the absolute epitome of evil - what kind of person wouldn't even say thank you? It seemed like someone thought there were some dumb viewers who wouldn't get the tragic situation otherwise...Seriously. Way over the top. And erm...does someone care about Wanta? o.O Is he just waiting in front of the door for ages or what? |

| Yeah, just started this series and got to this episode in one sitting and I can safely say I'm royally freaked out. Good episode, emotional rollercoaster, and even MORE flying body parts! I just wish the ending song wasn't so happy, jeeze. :P |

| Man Kouta is a total idiot. He doesn't say the right things to women. Seriously though if a woman asks you "would you cry if i disappeared" you say "hell yes I would, what's all that silly talk about?" But in all reality he's a moron. Oh and I really can't stand Lucy's dumb side. However her violent side is totally badass! |

| OMG!! I think I cried through the entire first half of the show. Mayu-chan's back story was SO sad...and her mother's a bitch! I can't believe that she just signed over guardianship of her daughter to someone that she didn't even know!! Did that husband of her's really mean more to her than her own daughter? I just can't say enough how much I love Lucy! Rip head off first...ask questions later! π Image |

| Ok, so I just watched this episode. Just random thoughts: Lucy and Nyu are sooo different! Does Lucy have any purpose, a goal? Ok, she escaped, but now what? She will kill all the humans? That headcutting really scared me the first time. It was so unexpected :D |

| I was shocked with Mayu backstory. She was a strong girl, how could she deal with that and yet be a normal happy girl? That Kakusawa.. I'm glad he died quickly, I could stand that ridiculous speech, he looked really creep when he took the wig off, yuck. And there was Lucy, naked again.. |
