THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Well the past Lucy ended up going off the deap end and going to the dark side...
The addition of the music box is a plus. Not including a very important scene of There's just too many gaps not being filled well enough. I might have enjoyed the anime more if I didn't start the manga before; but the manga version is just too good and develops the characters a lot better.
Bah, how suspenseful. I dislike love triangles. Couldn't they keep it so that everything would fall into place perfectly? True... that would be a perfect world, and we just can't have that now can we -.o
eh... she even kills those who are merely enjoying themselves >.>
poor lucy..
Jeez, I watched this far with my friends insisting that Lucy was totally justified for being the cold-blooded killer she is, and this is what I get? She goes off the deep end because Kouta tells her a fib? What a dramatic failure. I'm only going to watch the rest of this series to see how bad it really is.
Possibly the best episode so far... the trip to the zoo was unbearably cute, especially considering what came next :O Amazingness all round, only 4 episodes left. Hate the ED. So out of place. I'm just gonna listen to the OP again instead :)
Nice trip to the Zoo..
Boodshed! Young Lucy's very adorable! Seriously, who would hate a cute pink-haired horned girl? Damn all those bastards! Well except the ones that were killed in their homes. :D I think her attitude to people is very fairly justified... She was probably abandoned since birth, or at a very young age, do to having "horns"(that's only my assumption, as I haven't read the manga, nor looked at spoilers), and thus being mistreated by jerks. Kohta, however, seems to think like me. ~Sugoi! She was really cute when she was at the zoo. ~OMG AN ELEPHANT! WOW LOOK HOW BIG IT IS!! xD By the way, It's pretty obvious Lucy killed Kohta's little sister. I like that music box as well...
The opening is starting to grow on me, and I also like the music box. Great episode, next one looks good too
I'm completley on Lucy's side as sick as that is.
So this is what pushed her over the edge... This is my 3rd time watching, but Elfen Lied is still as absorbing as it was the first time.
So what is Lucy's plan? Does she intend to just slice and dice all the humans until she's the only one left?

You've obviously never heard of the saying "The straw broke the camel's back" (or something to that affect), have you? |
Lucy compared to Nyuu is such a minga...
chibi ms. tsundere lucy is at war with her own consciousness. even though it looks wrong, i can't help but agree with the vengeful side of her.
The anime is starting to leave out so much, this is definitely an anime that should be watched before reading the manga. It would be so much better if I didn't know that stuff was missing. Oh well...
This episode is epic win.
Can't believe there's so few episodes left. Sounds like a lot of stuff was left out from the manga I wonder why they (being the creators of the anime) didn't shoot for 26 episodes (I see that number frequently). This episode was good the zoo part kept me smiling. So sad she's all alone.
Such junk...
OMG they were SO cute together!!! when she was at the zoo... that was AMAZING!!! aww poor her... well. . .i cant believe she killed every1!!! i wish she didnt take that bitches hand!!! XP anyway i really liked... the little kid (good version) with him!!! its SO cute X3
Nice episode. Very cute!
I don't understand what triggered the major killing spree at the festival. Was she upset because Kouta lied to her about the gender of his cousin? Is that what set her off? Or was it the drunken bastard that was cursing her while she was lying on the ground? I felt really bad for that lady that asked her if she was OK. Her death was TOTALLY unnecessary. π Image
damn it poor lucy :( but this was such a great episode...maybe one of the 10 best anime episodes i've ever seen! great... 5/5

NastyMuffin said: eh... she even kills those who are merely enjoying themselves >.> Yeah, although I feel sorry for her, my sympathy is getting less and less. I don't really like how many of the characters are so liner... either they're sweet and kind, or they're complete dicks. I know that the main characters are more multi-faceted... but still... |
once again an awesome episode. blushing Lucy is so kawaii (no comment on the loli?). I feel more sympathetic for her now. If I was living in that kind of atmosphere I'm sure I would go crazy as well. π Image
To those of you that hate the beautiful ending theme, notice in this episode how the lyrics fit in with young Lucy's feelings after Kohta lied to her. It's really quite amazing!
Poor Lucy ? Why ? She killed people for no freakin' reason. Jeez.
Damn, Kohta used to be such a player! wtf happened?
Yeah, children's physic is so vulnerable.. so we see how society and abuse affect a lonely child. I bet if all children and just all people had diclonius's powers all our pain would let the world to the bloody end. So you see how terrible it could be when a person replies to violence by violence. My opinion toward these series improved. Lilium theme..when Kouta and Lucy were sitting naked I started to hum this theme and to my amazement they did the same! That showed how brilliant this music suits the situation.
The zoo was amazing! The festival...not so much.

This whole show just keeps getting better and better. The backstory is amazing.

I thought the character development was a bit shallow and hard to follow at parts. |
You people must understand Lucy didn't go off the deep end simply because Kouta lied to her. She went off the deep end because she's been bullied most of her childhood, that girl betrayed her, those kids killed her dog, the guy pushed her like an idiot, and THEN because Kouta lied to her.
freakin lucy...this is great backstory
*knocks down* hey get out of my way, stupid kid! No offence, but things like this just don't happen in real life. The whole series has moments like this that are just unrealistically sad, which makes them take you out.
Lucy must die... random killing people ¬¬
...
Damn backstory of lucy or nyuu is really sad :/ let's see what happens in the next episode!
to the people saying this doesnt happen in real life this does happen!! naturally by NATURE! people are jealous when we are sad and feel like are life is miserable 90% of people look for someone's who life is worse and make fun of them thats why we have so much bullying today especially for different people like in lucy case with horns growing from her head or in reality gays or people with medical conditions! when the drunk guy was cursing her out it was because his life was horrible enough to get drunk he took it out on poor little lucy!! a child cant take this sort of emotional abuse i see why she chose to put no more emotion into that world.. if i was in her situation i wouldnt either! anyway im crying 5/5
Everyone likes the opening song. Altough the song is creeply i starting to like it. Lucy backstory was good. Next episode will be crazy yet again. 4/5
The end left me at the edge of my seat! Man, I wish I had more time to watch what happens next!! Ahhh! I so feel bad for Lucy!! Can't wait to get to the next episode!
massacre at the festival ! how exciting.~
Poor Lucy. Nothing but misery in her life. I hope Nana wont get killed in the next episode.
I get it, she hated humans and he shouldn't have lied, but was it ok for her to do so cause of lying, which anyone can do? I dunno, it felt more like a hatred of everything than a hatred of human beings. So what, kill everyone cause people do bad things >_> I get the reasoning behind it, but I in no way believe it's fine to kill innocent people all because of her horrible past. You could cop it down to her just not understanding the difference between good and bad people due to nothing but bad in her life, but there's a huge difference between people killing your dog and someone telling a stupid (and kinda random) white lie. I mean, was Kohta a bad person or didn't care about Lucy just cause he lied about Yuka? Was their whole day for nothing because he didn't want her to know that he had another friend that was a girl? The lie was stupid yes, but it shouldn't be: "this nice guy lied to me, and my life's f'd up so let's kill random people." I felt bad for Lucy as well for the most part, but I can't feel fully this was fully justified at all. Some had said this was like the last straw for her, but for me that speaks more of a person with a disturbed life that goes crazy, less of a tragic character than I can feel bad for. Even people with the worst of experiences learn to understand the difference between good and bad people, not that everyone's bad and deserves to die, that to me is too skewed. Cause I love good villians, and I love caring about a character's past and reasoning behind why they kill or whatever, but more often than not the reasoning is so damn silly I'm afraid to say =/ Fair enough to anyone who appreciated Lucy and her story but i feel like this was one of the parts of Elfen Lied that left a bad taste in my mouth

Nice flashback, I guess Lucy deleted Kouta's memories and that's why he doesn't remember the festival, and I have a bad feeling about Kouta's cousin, I think she's gonna die D:

That would make sense. |
