Add or remove holidays on your calendar

Holidays are automatically added to your calendar. You can update your calendar settings to:

  • Show public holidays and other observances, public holidays only, or selected holidays.
  • Add or remove holidays from other countries or regions.
  • Add or remove religious holidays.
  • Hide or unhide individual holidays.
  • Change the color of holiday events.

To show the holidays most important to you, you can customize your calendar.

Tips:

  • Calendar shows public holidays and national observances using information from a third-party company that specializes in this data. This information is regularly updated and available for every country where Calendar can be used.
  • To add specific holidays, you can subscribe to third-party holiday calendars published on the web.

Select holidays to show on your calendar

Important: You can’t delete or edit the details of individual holidays on your calendar.

Public holidays and other observances appear on your calendar by default. To show public holidays only:

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Calendar app πŸ‘ Calendar
    .
  2. At the top left, tap Menu πŸ‘ Menu
    πŸ‘ and then
    Settings πŸ‘ and then
    Holidays.
  3. Tap National Holidays.
  4. Select your preferred country or region.
  5. Under the country or region you’ve selected, select one of these:
    • All holidays
    • Public holidays only
  6. At the bottom, tap OK.

Add or remove country and region holidays

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Calendar app πŸ‘ Calendar
    .
  2. At the top left, tap Menu πŸ‘ Menu
    πŸ‘ and then
    Settings πŸ‘ and then
    Holidays.
  3. Tap the country or region you’re subscribed to.
    • To add, select a country from the list πŸ‘ and then
      Public and other holidays or Public holidays only.
    • To remove, select a country from the list πŸ‘ and then
      Don’t show.

Add or remove religious holidays

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Calendar app πŸ‘ Calendar
    .
  2. At the top left, tap Menu πŸ‘ Menu
     πŸ‘ and then
    Settings πŸ‘ and then
    Holidays.
  3. Tap Add religious holidays.
  4. To add or remove a religious holiday, tap it.

Hide all holidays from your calendar

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Calendar app πŸ‘ Calendar
    .
  2. At the top left, tap Menu πŸ‘ Menu
    .
  3. To the left of β€œHolidays,” tap the box.

Tip: Calendars with an empty box are already hidden from your calendar.

Hide individual holidays from your calendar

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Calendar app πŸ‘ Calendar
    .
  2. Select a holiday.
  3. Tap More options πŸ‘ Image
    πŸ‘ and then
    Hide this holiday πŸ‘ and then
    Hide.

Unhide individual holidays from your calendar

Important: You can unhide all hidden holidays on your phone, but for individual holidays, you must use your computer.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Calendar app πŸ‘ Calendar
    .
  2. At the top left, tap Menu πŸ‘ Menu
    πŸ‘ and then
    Settings πŸ‘ and then
    Holidays.
  3. To restore all individually hidden holidays, tap your preferred holiday calendar πŸ‘ and then
    All holidays or Public holidays only.

Change the color of holiday events

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Calendar app πŸ‘ Calendar
    .
  2. At the top left, tap Menu πŸ‘ Menu
     πŸ‘ and then
    Settings πŸ‘ and then
    Holidays.
  3. Select a new color.

Tips:

  • The color applies to all holiday events on your calendar.
  • You can’t individually change the color of holiday events.
