How do I take on-wrist phone calls with my Fitbit smartwatch?
Use the built-in speaker and microphone in Fitbit Sense, Fitbit Sense 2, Fitbit Versa 3, and Fitbit Versa 4 to take calls from your wrist.

If you didnβt set up on-wrist calls when you connected your Fitbit device to your account:
- Open the Google Home app π Image
. - At the top left, tap Connections π Image
π and then
your device π and then
On-Wrist Calls.
Follow the instructions below to set up on-wrist calls.
Tap each setup requirement, and follow the on-screen instructions to accept and turn on the necessary pairing permissions and requests.
- Note that if you see a See Instructions button, you might be using an older version of the Google Health app. Tap See Instructions, and use the iPhone instructions to set up on-wrist calls.
- On Sense and Versa 3, if you donβt see a pop-up message to turn on device controls when you tap Bluetooth Pairing:
- Open the Settings app π Image
on your watch π and then
Vibration & Audio. In the On-wrist calls section, tap Sense Controls/Calls or Versa 3 Controls/Calls. - On your phone, tap Settings π and then
Bluetooth. Your phone scans for available devices. - When you see Sense Controls/Calls or Versa 3 Controls/Calls as an available device, tap it. A number appears on your phone screen.
- When the same number appears on your watch, tap Pair.
- Return to the Google Health app on your phone. The Bluetooth pairing step is complete.
- Open the Settings app π Image
- Tap Start Setup.
- On Sense and Versa 3, if you're unable to start the on-wrist call setup, open the Settings app π Image
on your watch π and then
Vibration &Audio. In the On-wrist calls section, tap Sense Controls/Calls or Versa 3 Controls/Calls, and then proceed to the next step.
- On Sense and Versa 3, if you're unable to start the on-wrist call setup, open the Settings app π Image
- On your phone, tap Settings π and then
Bluetooth. Your phone scans for available devices. - When you see the name of your Fitbit device follows by the word "Controls"or "Calls" (for example, Sense 2 Calls) as an available device, tap it. A number appears on your phone screen.
- When the same number appears on your watch, tap Pair.
- Return to the Google Health app on your phone. Tap Done to complete setup.
- When you receive a phone call, tap the green phone icon on your watch. Note that your phone must be nearby with the Google Health app running in the background.
- Speak into your watch to talk to the other person. You hear their voice from the speaker on your watch.
- To adjust the volume of the speaker, tap the speaker icon π Image
π and then
minus icon π Image
or plus icon π Image
. Swipe right to return to the previous screen. - To mute yourself, tap the microphone icon π Image
. Tap the same icon to unmute yourself. - To switch to a keypad, tap the 3 dots icon π Image
π and then
Keypad. Swipe right to return to the previous screen.
- To adjust the volume of the speaker, tap the speaker icon π Image
- To end the call, tap the red phone icon π Image
.
- During an on-wrist call, tap the 3 dots icon π Image
π and then
Phone to move the call to your phone. - To move the call back to your watch, tap the watch icon π Image
.
Note that if you answer a call with your phone, you canβt switch the call to your watch.
If you canβt answer on-wrist calls, check the following requirements:
- Make sure youβre using the latest version of the Google Health app. For more information, see Explore the Google Health app.
- Make sure your Fitbit device is up to date. For more information, see Update your Fitbit device.
- Keep your phone nearby with the Google Health app running in the background. Your phone should be within 30 feet (10 meters) of your watch.
- Call notifications must be turned on. For more information, see Change phone notifications on my Fitbit device.
If you continue to have issues, try the following troubleshooting steps:
- On your phone, turn Bluetooth off and back on.
- Restart your Fitbit device. For instructions, see Restart your Fitbit device
- Remove your Fitbit device's controls or calls from the list of Bluetooth devices on your phone.
- Set up on-wrist calls again. For instructions, see How do I set up on-wrist calls on my Fitbit device?
Note that your Fitbit device's controls or calls might be listed as βNot Connectedβ in the list of Bluetooth devices on your phone. When you receive a phone call, the controls automatically reconnect. This feature requires more frequent charging.
