In any case, the easiest way to send an email with a link to the webpage you are on is to enable the Menu bar in Firefox, click on File in the Menu bar at the top of the page and select Email Link. Firefox will then open your default MAILTO handler to send the link.

If that doesn't work, see Change the program used to open email links.
