Learn MoreThe back and forward arrow next to the URL box is not working on my firefox browser. Since I don't know the cause of the problem, I decided the best fix would be to up-grade to the latest verson I can, but I know my machine is old, so it is limited as to the version of Firefox it can load. So I want to know: What is the latest (highest) version of Firefox I can use on a 2.8GHz Pentium 4 with 512 Meg of ram that is running XP - SP3 ?
That is unless you can think of a way to get the back andforward buttons to return. (they are there, they just stay light blue and never light up (turn the darker brighter blue) so I can go back to the previous screens.

No worries jimdaily, I checked the bit about the history and was unable to replicate your problem so if updating doesn't help, repost here and I'll have a look for more info.

Hi,
Based on the System Requirements here ( www.mozilla.org/firefox/8.0/system-requirements/ ) I would say the latest stable version (Firefox 8), but have a look for yourself.

Hi (again),
To answer your Back and Forward buttons question, my first suggestion would be to check in the Privacy section of Preferences and see if Firefox is set to Remember history, because I would say that if it isn't remembering history it would make those buttons useless.
Try Preferences -> Privacy then the History section.

jack013,
Thank you for your help. Your answers were right on target.
I appreciate the fact that you answered both of my problems.
I will check to see if "History" is turned off
and I will update my version of Foxfire from version 3.5.19 to version 8
Thank You very much for your help, jack013,
