If I use Firefox on Android to view webmail on live.com I have a problem. I can open my inbox. That lists received emails. I am able to for instance select emails and mark them as read. I also have no issue trying to compose and post emails.

What I can not do is open and view emails in Firefox Android I use hotmail.co.uk that opens as outlook at live.com MS did recently enforce changes of style on their webmail displays.

I am still able to use the native Android app to view emails. That may have an issue at present in that I am not sure it is properly syncing content in other folders.

    Note I tried with fx53, fx54.0b & fx54.0a2

Questions in the main support forum are only indexed by Google if they are marked solved. Questions that are deleted or marked as spam will not be re-indexed by Google. Questions that are closed for any reason by a Mod or Admins I believe fall in to the latter category.

Rather than try to look up the documentation or try to get my head around code it is far simpler to test this live on the forum thus this question. LMGTFY is a fairly rare target string. I will post ths question mark t solved then immediatly close it.

Question posted by a Moderator for test purposes.

I anticipate it will not show up on Google. (I will probably unlock the question later.) I can even test that by using LMGTFY. Note unless you explain exacctly how &/oir or provide the link to the relevant hit from the results of the search. The initialism LMGTFY may be considered offensive: rather like Read The Fine Manual.

Lets also try out the internal searches

N.B. If anyone has good reason to use LMGFY links for a helpful purpose all well and good but please use the full link not the shortened link so that it is clear what you are searching for. Please do not port obfuscated or shortened links on the forum (With the exception, maybe on the Android forum of shortened links copied from Mozilla documentation)

Initial update. No need to answer this question. Note posted in relation to /questions/972351 where I posted

You seem to have demonstrated a flaw in our workflow.

    1. We do have a specific forum for questions about Firefox OS.
    2. We have a specific start point for information about Firefox OS
      /questions/new > /questions/new/firefox-os
    3. When asking questions using the dropdown
      • it does however redirect to the standard Firefox forum /questions
        example /questions/984614
      • I am aware we have not yet really designed the Forum to handle Mobile Questions well let alone Firefox OS questions.

Test post by a moderator looking at workflow in AAQ in prod.

Contributors please do not answer this post. I will add a link to the relevant discussion later.

    Noting

    • I did not actaully hit the 800 charlimit, or if I did it posted
    • I still am able to edit after posting, including TS comments. Not sure an ordinary user can do that
    • User editing apparently has a problem
      • TS information additional comments are lost if posting from [Showdetails >>]
      • If posting from prior TS page any Installed plugin edits are lost
    • The "Guess" showed only 4 of my 6 ask to activate plugins
    • My deactivated plugins do not display, by contrast deactivated extensions do display
    • System info not user friendly in this instance, was that due to my edits ?
I will repeat as a straight question with no edits.

N.B. Trying here as opposed to alizom as I wanted to be certain what a user sees. I will use someone eles's email address to set up an ordinary user account first.

    Introduction

This is a problem reported in another long thread and the thousands viewing that indicate it is a major concern, and continues in Firefox 23 not just the Firefox 20 from the report.
Original thread title: Version 20, Memory Leak Still? Original thread Link https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/958108

I am one of the forum moderators, and do not have this problem myself. Unfortunately I do not even have a Mac.

I am trying to make information easily findable. I have started this thread with two aims

    1. To provide links to any
      • Known workarounds or solutions to this or related problems
      • Separate related threads (because it is always best and in accordance with forum guidelines to deal with only one person's problem per thread )
    2. To collect information on the problem that may help developers. Particularly steps to reproduce this or closely related problems.

    In this Thread

    1. The next post down is an index of such links.
    2. The post after that is a summary of the information or help I would like from you if at all possible.
    3. Then extracts from related threads.

PLEASE NOTE, because I am trying to keep this as a tracking and cross linking thread I am reserving the right to heavily edit or delete any post in this thread as I see fit.
I am intending mainly to keep content in separate threads with only summary, extracts and links in this thread. Feel free to post in this thread with definite solutions or to mention any thread you consider relates to this problem.

This thread is NOT going to deal with any issues involving Flash Player.

    Update: See now https://support.mozilla.org/kb/firefox-opens-transparent-or-blank-window

It is still of interest to collect information as the cause and specific solution of such problems.

    Hi,
I am John, one of the forum moderators.

We have been seeing quite a few questions about Firefox going transparent. Our expert contributor madperson has solved many of these questions already, but we have not yet found the cause of the problem. There is a workaround, and will explain it in the next comment.

Meanwhile may I ask for your help please so that we may gather information on this and try to work out a proper solution. It would help if everyone with such a problem starts their own thread, and then posts into this thread to confirm that they have done so.

To start your own thread and put the required information in it

    1. Ask a question by following this link: /questions/new
      1. it first of all asks for a question title just say "Transparent Firerfox"
      2. you get the opportunity to read similar questions and relevant articles, you may do that if you wish
      3. there is then a largish box in which to type the full question Details describe you problem there the best you can. also see the next comment about the workarounds and try to give information about what worked and additional information about any changes
      4. next it is asking for system information and confirmation of details alongside a Troubleshooting Information it is really helpful if at this stage you can as requested paste the troubleshooting information into the box.
Use Help -> Troubleshooting Information; click on the button [copy information to clipboard] then paste that information into the box (Keyboard key Ctrl + P when both are pressed at the same time should paste the content from the clipboard)
    2. Click on the green button to [Post Question]
    3. Then comeback here to confirm you have posted.
    4. Keep your eye on both posts and we will post updates as we discover what is happening.

I tend to answer questions rather than ask them, but on this I do need help before considering the problem further.

Please ensure that you have firefox's phishing proteection enabled (it should already be enabled by default) please see:

Then please try the two test pages

    1. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/its-a-trap.html
    2. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/its-an-attack.html

You should not actaully see the two pages linked above, firefox should block them both. Currently when Itry in Windows 7 firefox 9.0.1 even in safe mode it is not blocking those pages. I have also tried in linux, and will in due course try in other firefox versions on Windows XP.

I would like to know if others find firefox's phishing protection as tested on these pages fails. Would you please try and report back what happens, please say what OSyou are usingand which version of firefox, if convenient please test in safe mode(just click continue, no need to make any changes.)

    Thanks in advance.
