This article is about the Copy Ability. For the Top Ride course, see Metal (course). For other uses of "Metal", see Metal (disambiguation).

Metal is a Copy Ability introduced in Kirby: Squeak Squad. This ability doesn't give Kirby a unique hat like most other copy abilities, instead completely transforming his body into metal, giving him angular features and a sleek silver appearance, though his cheek blush is still pink. This ability makes Kirby invincible to most kinds of damage, including from hazards such as lava, but in trade Kirby moves slower, doesn't jump as high, and is given few attack options.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby: Squeak Squad[edit]

Metal makes its first, and so far only, appearance in Kirby: Squeak Squad. It can be accessed by inhaling a Metalun, a Big Metalun or by touching a Copy Essence. Similar to Ghost, Metal will not change to monochrome when the Chalk Spray Paint is active.

Without its Ability Scroll, Metal has only one move which allows Kirby to pound down stakes and break through metal blocks beneath him. If the Ability Scroll for Metal is obtained, Metal Kirby is granted a second move which turns Kirby into a smooth metal ball when activated, allowing him to roll down hills much more quickly than he would otherwise be able to move. The Metal ability can also be used underwater, with Kirby sinking to the bottom of the seafloor while active.

The following lists both of Metal Kirby's attacks. Attack names are taken from the Kirby: Squeak Squad Nintendo Official Guidebook.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe[edit]

Metal Kirby makes a small cameo appearance in Kirby: Triple Deluxe as one of the collectible Keychains that can be found throughout it.

Kirby Battle Royale[edit]

In Kirby Battle Royale, Metal does not appear as a Copy Ability. However, playable characters can use a Boost Orb that allows them to become metal for 10 seconds, becoming immune to attacks but also being much heavier and less mobile.

Kirby: Squeak Squad Be careful. You can't get hurt, but don't get mad if you break stuff. It's not perfect, OK?

Kirby: Squeak Squad manual[edit]

  • "Metal Kirby's heavy and oh-so slow, but he's virtually indestructible, too."

Trivia[edit]

πŸ‘ Image
The original drawing of Metal Kirby from the ability contest
  • Metal is the only Copy Ability which causes Kirby to move slower while climbing up ladders.
  • One of the winning Copy Ability concepts in the Japan-only Kirby of the Stars: New Ability Contest for Kirby: Right Back at Ya! was a concept for a Metal Copy Ability (submitted by Yuki Oishi from Shimane prefecture), however it ended up tying with a Tutankirby concept (submitted by Yoichi Muramoto from Tokyo prefecture). This led to the two being merged into the Iron Copy Ability when the concepts were realized for the episode Air-Ride-in-Style - Part II. Notably, the design of the Metal ability concept heavily resembles the design of the actual Metal ability.
