Excellent first turntable! Easy to use, USB, Bluetooth, RCA outputs.
If you're looking for an aesthetically-appealing, idiot-proof turntable that will sound shockingly good for its price while affording tons of playback flexibility, don't hesitate on the Sony PS-LX310BT. I have thousands of dollars of audiophile-grade headphones, but I had never been interested in vinyl. Then my wife realized she could collect Taylor Swift records AND listen to them with my equipment. So I was tasked with finding a reasonable entry-grade turntable. I ended up going with this Sony due to a number of factors. Sony is a reliable brand. I have never had a Sony product I didn't feel was at least mid-tier in terms of quality, if not premium. They have just never disappointed. Overpriced at times - perhaps, but never a letdown. That trend continues with this turntable - and I think it's an insane value compared to its competition in terms of features as well. Simple and easy to use. Having seen spooky stories of damaged vinyl and equipment in forums, as a first time, this was important to me. But it's pretty easy once you're familiarized. You put a record on, you remove the stylus cover, you turn it on, press start, and it just goes until the side is complete. When it's done, it auto-stops. It's great. Apparently lots of turntables don't auto-stop, and can damage your vinyl or "stylus tip" (there's a technical term I'm not recalling). Oh, and want to pause or change the spot on the record? There's a raise/lower toggle to allow you to do either! Flexible playback options. I can hook it up to my amplifiers via either USB-B or RCA, and they sound impressively similar. My wife loves using the Bluetooth for our living room soundbar. I wouldn't stress about which one sounds better, you're likely limited by your vinyl at this point. Dynamic range seemed the same to me. Excellent sound quality. I have no reference point for other turntables, but playing out of our high-end Samsung soundbar via Bluetooth, Taylor's vinyl sounds as good as our lossless music sources like Amazon Music HD and Apple Music. I couldn't discern a difference easily. On an audiophile headphone setup, such as my HDV 820 and HD800S combo, there is some dynamic range and soundstage expanse missing between Taylor Swift's 24-bit/44.1khz digital masters. But this more likely a limitation of the vinyl press, than the turntable itself. I'm not a fan of the pops and hisses - and they're there, but as soon as music gets rolling, you forget about them / don't hear them until it's quiet/silent again. I also don't care for a specifically warmer sound that people love from vinyl, and there's a touch of this, but I didn't feel like it was overly-coloring the sound. Dust cover! You can remove this too, if you prefer the aesthetic, but we live in Arizona, and our house is dusty minutes after cleaning it. Must-have. What I didn't like. - Power button location: I wish the power button wasn't on the back-side, but it's easy enough to feel and find. - RCAs hardwired: Probably my biggest complaint. I wish the RCAs weren't hardwired in. Would have preferred just female jacks like the USB output, and utilize a provided cable. Were these to get damaged, you'd have to have the unit rewired/repaired. but I just keep them cable-managed, and it's fine. Just keep out of reach of your puppies, cats and small children. In summary, I'm convinced there's no better option for a turntable under $200 (at time of review). You get wireless with USB, analog with RCA and digital with USB. It's easy to use and has fail-safes to avoid damaging the equipment and records. Sony has produced a good looking, thoughtful, value-laiden turntable in this PS-LX310BT.

Sony has a winner with this outstanding turntable!

I can't say enough about how pleased I am with this turntable. Being a baby boomer I have owned a few turntables during the era of component stereo systems. I abandoned vinyl with the introduction of CD's. I do stream music but have come to re-appreciate vinyl and it's physicality. This is a perfect turntable for my needs. I love the minimalist design, the easy bluetooth pairing (literally within two second after initial pairing) and it sounds fantastic with my Bose sound bar and subwoofer. I don't buy into much of what the vinyl fanatics say about only using traditional RCA connections , receiver/amps and floor speakers for pure sound. I don't have the space for all that anymore, Why not embrace technology that's easy to use, sounds great with a much smaller footprint? I have found that when records don't sound very good it's more of an issue with the pressing or mastering than with the equipment it's played on assuming you're using decent equipment! I also don’t believe that manual turntables are essential to the vinyl experience. Just place the record, give it a light brushing, push a button, let the automatic turntable do it’s thing.

I did make two upgrades. I replaced the neoprene platter mat with a rubber one. The Feir mat sold here on Amazon is a great replacement at a minimal price. I placed it upside down so it has the same flat look as the original neoprene mat, with no sound degradation. I also replaced the included conical stylus with an upgraded elliptical stylus from LP Gear. That item is not sold on Amazon but direct from the manufacturer and is a smart add-on for about $50. I agree with others regarding the hard wired-in RCA cables. It would have been nice to have plugs instead and add the cables if you need them, but that is certainly not a problem. Just tuck them away out of sight. I disagree with reviews that say the that the mostly plastic build is "cheap." The design of the turntable far outweighs the well concealed fact that the unit is plastic/aluminum. Cleaning tip: to clean dust off the dust cover without scratching it, dampen a soft cloth or microfiber towel with water and "blot" the top of the cover instead of wiping it You'll pick up the dust and not leave any unsightly scratches. Enjoy your purchase!

Picked this up after reading multiple review websites where this was identified as one of the best choices for a good quality table that wasn't thousands and thousands of dollars. As a casual listener and not a diehard audiophile this was exactly in the range I was looking for.

This table is excellent, and includes a number of features that make it ideal for casual or even first-time users. Set up is extremely straightforward, and the directions are clearly worded with pictures to help, and following the steps yields perfect results. The automatic system makes starting and stopping easy, with minimal intervention on placing the needle, etc. The only time you need to touch the control arm is if you want a specific track, and need to move the arm to the correct placement, otherwise, listening from start to finish is literally just a button.

I paired this with matching Sony sound gear, and it sounds great. For about $500 you can get the speakers, table and tuner, and have a great system that still comes in less than half the cost of some upper-mid level tables that don't sound that much better.

I had my doubt when I decided to get this turntable - not only because the price tag (200 usd is lower than most entry level turntables from many considered serious turntable manufacturer), but also for the bluetooth connection, which is a blasphemy for most turntable enthusiasts, as the reason for many of them to get into turntable is for the analog sound. My fear was escalated when I received the product - it is light, the platter is thin (comparing to usually seen hifi-grade turntable). However, after spending a few days with this turntable, I have to admit that the sound is much better than I thought, and I believe it is a good product to get into the turntable, which I think is what this product is for. Setup was really easy, about 3 minutes in and it was ready to play. First I tried it with a blue tooth soundbar. The connecting process was almost instant and the connection was very stable. Although I do wish that it would support Google Home, which would allow me to connect to more speakers that I already have. There is no need to connect any pre-amp, which is quite common for entry level turntables. It is literally just a situation of plug the power and play. What’s not common is that it also has amp built in and allows you to choose three levels of output - low, mid, high. The sound came out of the turntable was better than I expected - a good sense of clarity and sound stage, sound is a little bit cold for turntable, but sonic presentation throughout the spectrum was tight. The coldness, as I suspected, has improved after a few days, which is also common for any turntable. Then I tried to connect the to an external tube amp with the RCA output, and naturally the sound was largely improved. The warmth that is so unique to vinyl really shined in this scenario, and the details came out more, especially in the higher register (above 8k hz). All in all, I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in getting into turntable and vinyl. The performance was great for the price and even comparable to some higher priced entry level turntable. It is also fun to explore different modes of playing which will appeal to different needs.

I have a Numark direct drive turntable (that’s about 25 years old). It works fine, but I wanted a modern turntable with Bluetooth, and after some research I decided on this Sony model.

It was very easy to setup- just attach the belt, and connect the acrylic lid. That’s about it.

Connecting to a Bluetooth speaker and my headphones was easy, just like any other connection. The sound is nice and loud, either through BT or direct analog bookshelf speakers (via the built in RCA jacks).

The operation is either automatic or manual. I prefer auto for when I’m listening and doing chores around the house. It just stops when the side is done.

It’s a Sony product, so it’s good quality.

Cons? Well, it’s a Sony product so it’s overpriced. I got it on sale for $199, but it feels more like a $150 set. It’s very light weight, so it doesn’t have much of a premium feel. It’s nice, just very basic.

Pros? The sound is good. I’m not an audiophile but I know what sounds good. With my home setup, the sound is pretty decent for what I listen to. I think if I had better bookshelf speakers it might sound a little better. The built in pre-amp does a decent job.

Overall, I think this is a good first turntable for someone getting into vinyl. I have confidence that if used with care and taken care of, it will last me quite a few years.

I am thoroughly impressed with the Sony PS-LX310BT Belt Drive Turntable! As a vinyl enthusiast, this turntable has exceeded my expectations in terms of performance, convenience, and sound quality.

Firstly, the fully automatic operation makes playing vinyl records a breeze. With just a push of a button, the tonearm automatically lifts, moves into position, and gently lowers onto the record, providing a smooth and precise playback experience. This feature is perfect for both beginners and seasoned vinyl collectors alike.

The sound quality is exceptional. The belt drive mechanism minimizes vibrations and ensures a clear and balanced audio output. I've noticed a significant improvement in the richness and depth of sound compared to other turntables I've used.

I also appreciate the modern wireless connectivity options. The built-in Bluetooth allows me to wirelessly connect my favorite Bluetooth speakers or headphones, providing flexibility in where I can enjoy my vinyl collection without compromising on sound quality.

The design is sleek and minimalist, fitting seamlessly into my home audio setup. The build quality is sturdy, and the included dust cover helps protect the turntable when not in use.

Overall, I highly recommend the Sony PS-LX310BT Belt Drive Turntable to anyone looking for a high-quality, user-friendly vinyl record player. It combines classic vinyl playback with modern features, delivering an outstanding listening experience.

I picked up the Sony record player after my parents found a stash of old records from legendary artists like Elvis, Eric Clapton, KISS and more. It was exactly the motivation I needed to jump on thr vinyl record bandwagon. I chose the Sony player because of its cost and supposed good sound quality. I needed a record player with a pre-amp since my Sony STR-DN1080 receiver does not have a phono input.

The record player is well packed and extremely simple to assemble. It just takes a couple of minutes to put the belt, platter, dust cover and connections to the receiver. The player itself is light and mostly plastic but it’s adequate. It looks sleek when assembled.

Using the record player is easy as there is a off/standby button at the rear, a gain setting for the preamp and start/stop/rise-lower buttons at the front. The player can handle 33 and 45 rpm records.

I listened to a few records and I haven’t heard such wonderful sound quality from any audio CD, super-audio CD, DSD file or streaming service. The perfect separation of each instrument and voice is absolutely incredible. Everyone today is missing out on what music should really sound like. Some of the records I tried were from 1965 and later so pops and crackles were evident on the dirtier

      scratched ones.

I realize getting into vinyl records can be extremely expensive but I am more than happy with the Sony player as a first step into this hobby. Worth every penny to get introduced to how music really sounds like!

The product was a pleasant surprise to me. The setup was extremely easy. The sound of the ripped vinyl was superb. I was a bit skeptical on the sound quality of the ripped music initially but everything turned out well and good.

Highly recommended to anyone who thought of digitalizing their inventory of vinyls.

I really like this record player - it pairs well with my Google nest, but when it pairs with my Bose speaker its too quiet and I can't figure out why. I like the sound quality, and its easy to put together once you figure out which spool the rubber band goes over. It was very well packaged, so I was disappointed to find multiple scratches on the lid - that's why I gave it a 4 for quality of material. The buttons on the front are rather cheap, but everything works well. I would buy it again for sure. Have had a lot of fun with it. I have not hooked it to my computer yet, or to external speakers.

I bought it mostly because of the design and because I trust the brand. It proved everything I expected, with a sleek and modern design that blends easily and discreetly in the living room. It connected quickly to my Bluetooth speaker., and it sounds very well.
