• Responsive Google TV interface with solid app selection
First off let me say- I have the Asus pg 32UQX($3000 gaming monitor) full array local dimming @ 1400 nits. The Asus PG 27UQ(baby brother), Samsung QN 950 B (144 Hz), the list goes on. I am very very particular about my viewing experiences; motion handling is one of the most important implementations along with picture processing. This TV I just received, the 42 inch Sony A90K is seriously the best looking picture I have ever seen. The motion clarity beats LG, Samsung, all of them hands down. Trust me I would know. I’m am a high refresh rate pc gamer. Any hard-core motion blur makes me dizzy and upscaling is very important as well. This TV does an extraordinary job. I’ve only had it for a few hours, but I ALWAYS leave my TVs on in the beginning of it’s life to do the burn in test. It has actually really surprised me with exceptional picture clarity. If you’re on the fence about this one; just buy it! It is expensive as all get out, but totally worth it!
---Update Aug 5th---
So I wanted to post an update. I have had the TV for a little over a week. It is the most unbelievable TV I have ever owned. PC gaming(Asus 3080) finally feels right on a TV with vrr; it actually feels like a real life g-sync monitor with the actual g-sync module. Console gaming is unbelievable. Even at 120 Hertz, the PS5 and Xbox Series X like to downscale to 1080p(stable performance) but on this TV I can't tell the difference between 1080P and 4K! It is amazing! The sound is perfect with my soundbar. Dolby Atmos sounds great now. I literally have not one complaint about this TV. Just thought I would let you guys know. PS!- Just make sure if you're like me and this is your first OLED; viewing it in a dark room is a must! I'm coming from a mini LED Samsung qn950b (super super bright tv) This isn't that. It is made for dark room gaming and streaming. Which is what i prefer anyway. Enjoy, you will be blown away!
While Samsung is a good product, really, Sony is just better, but of course, TV options can depend on your wallet or preferences. The picture is crisp, colorful, and bright, thanks to out-of-the-box settings. This is a second TV, to a 55" that I have. This version's UI seems a bit more responsive, but the overall quality is outstanding, and the setup is pretty standard.
Let me start of by saying this is the 1st ever OLED TV I've owned and WOW! I've owned it just over a month. Perfect tv for those who have wanted a top tier tv at a reasonable SIZE. Set up wasn't too bad a lot of folks making a big deal about this being a Google TV and I get it coming from years of using Roku it takes a little time getting used to navigating the UI but at the end of the day it's just another Android tv. The picture quality is bar none the best I have ever owned. Deep, rich, vibrant colors super dark almost ink like blacks. I mean 4K is truly 4K I've owned multiple 4k TV's but none have come close to this type of picture quality. The sound is something else to behold, OUTSTANDINGLY terrific. Again going by my own experience, I've always needed some sort of external speakers for almost every tv I've owned, not with this one. When Sony says that "the screen is the speaker" they mean it. Truly blown away by the sound. It has a myriad of picture and sound settings to suit every taste. It took some twerking for me to get the picture looking how I wanted it, so if it looks a little too dark be patient you'll soon discover like I did, that OLED TVs tend to be darker than traditional LED/LCD screens. The price is really the only con especially for this size but, again this is the size I was looking for and unfortunately not many manufacturers make OLED TVs those size. Overall couldn't be happier highly recommend.

I bought this on a whim.. It's better than I expected but a little pricier than what you'd expect.
To preface this review I'd like to start out saying that I'm very particular about software to the point of being annoying to others. I typically despise "smart" devices because they try to do too much and end up being too restrictive or whatever. I'm also very privacy conscientious.
The picture is great as expected for a high tier TV, I don't think anyone expected any different.
Some things I really appreciated about this TV that I think would fly below other people's radar:
During setup you can ignore accepting the TOS and EULAs for the streaming software if you don't plan on using them.
The controller is nice. It's backlit and feels nice to use.
When you turn on the TV it defaults to the last used input method.
It has an input button directly on the controller. As someone who swaps between several computers, it's nice to not have to navigate a menu to do it.
It's snappy and responsive. Many smart TVs feel sluggish because of all the shoes they're trying to fill.
It's easy to change settings like brightness and set sleep timers. I bought this for my bedroom to fall asleep to and it's easy to set the sleep timer in 15 min increments up to 90 mins.
I docked a star because it's very expensive for the size but I'm pleased with it so far. When it comes time to replace my main living room TV I'm considering a Sony with the same OS.
*This review is for the 42" XR42A90K.*
We recently finished a major remodel of our kitchen and capped off the project by ordering the Sony XR42A90K. Our kitchen gets a lot of traffic and frequently doubles as my wife's office, so we wanted a TV in the room but not something that would overwhelm the space. The 42" A90K is a fantastic option, having installed it and used it for a bit.
My house is a Sony TV house, having moved away from Samsung products and their awful app environment, short support windows, and subpar performance (in my opinion). This is the fourth Sony TV in our home, and the second OLED. I know LG OLEDs also receive very good reviews, but having a common platform in my house, and one my wife and kids are already familiar with pushed us to the Sony OLED.
►Picture Quality:
I am not a professional TV reviewer, but in my estimation it's hard to beat the picture on a Sony OLED. Our A90K is located in a very bright kitchen and performs terrifically! The picture is very bright, while still offering excellent deep blacks and contrast. Any worry about glare was washed away shortly after powering the TV on for the first time.
→Concerns about burn-in:
I've owned a Sony Master-series OLED in my home theater for years and the TV has not experienced any burn-in at all. I frequently game on that set, for reference, and it's worked great for four years without any noticable burn-in. So, I have no concerns with the A90K at all.
►Google TV:
One of the biggest selling points on Sony TVs is the integration with Google TV. It's incredibly easy to setup (using the Google Home App), and use. My wife and I have Google's Pixel series Android phones, and the integration with our phones is fantastic - for example, we display a rotating album of our favorite family pictures on all of our Sony TVs when they enter stand-by mode. It's one of our favorite features and requires very little user input to get it set up.
The next best thing is the responsiveness of Sony TVs. Switching from app to app, or from cable is a breeze and the A90K responds immediately. I contrast that experience with our awful Samsung TVs that had noticeable lag when pressing any button.
►I/O:
→ 4 × HDMI -- 2 × @ HDMI 2.1 (inputs 3, 4); 2 × @ HDMI 2.0 (inputs 1, 2)
→ 2 × USB 3.0
→ 1 × Optical out
→ 1 × Ethernet
→ 1 × IR (input)
→ 1 × RS232C
→ 1 × Composite (requires adapter, not included in the box)
►Other Things:
→ The A90K comes removeable plastic backplates that cover areas like the cord and I/O. They're great for completing a clean, minimalist look. I have my TV mounted on our kitchen wall but still installed the plates since they cover up part of the side panel too. Again, purely aesthetic, but I love the finished look.
→ There's a mic mute toggle on the side of the TV. If you want a more privacy and aren't interested in using the Google Voice Assistant, turn the mic to mute.
→ I do not use the included stand but I do appreciate that it's made out of metal and not flimsy plastic.
→ The TV does use on-screen ads (unfortunately). I believe that most TVs these days have them, and it sucks. At least they're unobtrusive and you can opt out of personalized ads when you perform the first-time configuration.
→ The remote is compact but excellent. It feels great in-hand and sturdy. It has a minimalist approach to buttons which is great in a household with kids.
►In the Box:
→ A90K TV
→ Remote control
→ 2 × AAA batteries
→ Base plate and metal legs
→ 2 × Cable management straps
→ Manual, user guides, and warranty information
►Closing:
That's it! This TV is fantastic and I'm very pleased with my purchase. The picture quality is fantastic, The user interface, sound, inputs are all the top-notch Sony quality I'm used too! This is definitely a TV I recommend!

That's it! This TV is fantastic and I'm very pleased with my purchase. The picture quality is fantastic, The user interface, sound, inputs are all the top-notch Sony quality I'm used too! This is definitely a TV I recommend!
Purchased this for the role of our primary family television. Excellent picture and sound. Easy to set up out-of-the-box, merely plug and play. One suggestion: change picture mode/setting to VIVID immediately. The vivid setting looks so much better than the default/others that I am unsure why any lesser/other setting would be offered.
Picture and sound are excellent as you would expect from Sony or a device in this price range. Really wanted the A95K 55" but it was about double the price. This a review from a layperson who tried to digest all of the torrents of expert reviews and got overwhelmed and settled on this fine device. Love the backlit remote.
What may set this device and the A95K series apart is the stand. My television needed to be offset from the furniture top so I needed something flat or on a pedestal, not legs. Also one of the thorough technical reviews of the Samsung OLED I viewed said their hardware was unscrupulously manipulated to make the colors appear artificially color-saturated or vibrant, so that was a factor.
I spent considerable time looking at Sony's A90K and A95K modes, Samsungs' new OLED and LG's C1 and C2 models. All 3 groups are excellent and I can't imagine 99% of the consumer population being anything but wholly satisfied with any of these. If you look at the price history of the LG C1 you would probably agree it is the best value of the three - there were a few weeks before the release of the C2 when Amazon was offering at the 48" and 55" and crazy low prices.
This TV is a follow up to what was already an award winning OLED TV in the A9. So Sony sets a high expectation for itself in TV's. I jumped from a mid-range 4k tv I'd had for seven years due to OLED and the benefits it has for gaming. This TV does not disappoint. Plugged my ps5 in and it connected right registering the Sony tv and flipped VRR and automapped my HDR settings for the best possible picture. The TV does not support Dolby Atmos for gaming which is a slight disappointment for my Series X, but it does for television watching. Overall though response times for both console and PC have been phenomenal and more than good enough even if this tv does not support sync/and freesync so it can more than suitably be a computer monitor to game on. If you're a hardcore gamer into the competitive scene, I doubt you'd use your TV to compete on in ranked games regardless.
This TV does well to register what you are doing and smartly adjusts picture settings on your different inputs. The remote has a sleek aluminum finish and cuts down size removing number buttons. The android TV is integrated which reduces that need, but if you prefer it, they do bundle in the old style remote with number inputs which I thought was nice.
Now finally, for the TV part of this TV review. This is a premium OLED TV and you are going to pay a premium price, but Sony builds a great tv, and the picture and audio on this TV reflects that. OLED handles dark blacks and movement so much better than an LED. This TV has a wonderful viewing angle and it's more than bright enough to hang in a bedroom and smaller living space. Most OLED's have trouble with brightness so this isn't shocking or anything profound but this TV is adequate for what will be it's likely uses. The sound is incredible, the tv makes it seem sounds coming from the whole screen to make audio feel more real, this won't replace a pricy sound bar, but it makes for an excellent natural sound for a TV that pairs well with the picture in your screen
Overall this tv comes at a premium price, but the build, look, and quality is that of a premium tv. You will not be disappointed buying this tv, but for pure gamers, LG C2 may have more bells and whistles. I got this tv 25% off and I do not regret the price I paid because the tv feels the weight it carries. 5 Stars and I'm excited to put more milage on it the next few years.
I wanted an OLED TV and I always buy Sony TVs and for where I needed it only a TV under 50 inch will do. This one fits perfectly in the picture and hanging on the wall took just half an hour with installing wall mount and TV. Then the fun started! I didn't need the AppleTV 4K I had before in this room, because the new TV had it all - every app I needed was there and every other was ready to download and install on it! You just need to have a Google account and you're all set.
About the TV as a TV: Picture is unbelievable! OLED screen systems were made for darker rooms where all the beauty of watching comes alive and this one did not disappoint. Lifelike pictures and colours without distortion and over-saturation. Once you see this, there's no way back to other systems screen. At least not for me.
The sound - it is good, but not comparable to sound run through dedicated amplifier and stand alone speakers. That's acceptable, it has optical output and connected to amp will shine while watching vivid pictures it produces.
Money wise - yes, the TV is very expensive compared with all other TVs, but being an OLED system and Sony brand - that holds the answer.
Delivery was fast and earlier than expected, so, again - thank you Amazon! Delivery driver even helped to bring the big box inside and make sure all was good during the transport. Respect for your guys!
Overall, if you intend to buy a high quality TV and can afford to apart with couple thousand dollars, go for it!
Strongly recommended TV!
Simplemente lo mejor que puedes tener en casa
Simplemente lo mejor que puedes tener en casa
Im not sure why its a frequently returned item but anyways, Its beautiful. its built really nicely, the screen is made out of the same plastic film you see on other tvs, with a thin metal bezel and a nice heavy metal pedestal that only has 2 height settings, not a durable tv by any means so be careful when handling it. the i/o has 4 hdmi ports, and for analog it has only one composite input, however the adapter you need isnt included so you'll have to buy one seperately and make sure the one your buying is for a sony since theres no standard for said adapter so all 3 inputs would be mixed up. its also got a built in media player for your usbs and media server although i havent looked into the media server thing. the picture quality is super sharp as oleds have an infinite contrast ratio, and you can set and adjust the picture quality however you like, all the options are there. since its a smart tv like everything else on the market it needs an internet connection and a google account for the initial setup, and ads are always on the homescreen and you cant change the homescreen as far as ive seen, in which case you could just disconnect it from the internet and use it sort of like a dumb tv, switching between inputs is simple to do in that case. I cant speak for longevity, but oleds burn in overtime, and im not so sure how well it prevents this. bottom line its a beautiful tv, and it gets 5 stars from me!
Best looking display I have ever had. Typical of OLED, the blacks look gorgeous. The SMART tv features and remote are great. No technical issues yet. Sound is great too.
I always buy Sony, even though they are pretty expensive. So did not compare with any other TV in the market. And straight bought Sony OLED TV. Good picture quality, great sound, the remote has backlight feature and also voice commands. Could have bought bigger 55” or 65“ with slightly more money (55” was 200 cad more while 65” was 550 cad more), but settled with 48” for ease of setting up (I live alone, bigger size would have been trouble for setting up - size and weight).
