Causaly’s AI platform for enterprise-scale scientific research redefines the limits of human productivity. We give humans a powerful new way to find, visualize and interpret biomedical knowledge and automate critical research workflows, accelerating solutions for some of the greatest health challenges we face.
Computer scientists Yiannis Kiachopoulos and Artur Saudabayev cofounded Causaly in 2018, shortly after meeting at the Singularity University’s Future Studies program.
Our vision is to develop groundbreaking AI to accelerate the path to critically necessary medical treatments and healthier, safer products.
Both avid readers, the duo envisioned an intelligent technology that could read “at superhuman speed,” extract knowledge including cause-effect evidence, capture the essence of that knowledge, and communicate the learnings with a level of clarity and integrity that would meet the standards of the world’s leading scientists. Meanwhile, the demand for precision medicine was growing and the pace of drug discovery lagged, putting pressure on researchers and pharmaceutical companies to find innovative treatments for patients faster. In this gap, the founders' vision crystalized: Their AI innovation would serve as an “operating system” for biomedical data.
Today, Causaly is a global team comprised of industry experts, technology visionaries and research scientists. The company’s headquarters are in London with offices in New York and Greece. The Causaly AI platform helps scientists quickly and easily absorb biomedical knowledge and causal relationships across the overwhelmingly siloed and disparate landscape of human health data locked up in tens of millions of scientific publications, databases, and across enterprise clients’ own internal information.

Yiannis Kiachopoulos has 20 years of experience in driving strategy, transformation, and innovation at global enterprises, a background in computer science, and a vision to radically transform life science R&D with artificial intelligence. For several years, he was a consultant at Accenture advising some of the world’s largest companies before co-founding Causaly in 2018.
He holds a bachelor’s in Japanese language studies, a master’s in computer science, and an MBA from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Computer scientist and intelligent systems expert Artur Saudabayev is a published, award-winning expert in intelligent systems and data science. Before co-founding Causaly, he built AI and robotics technologies to replicate human eyes, hands and decision-making approaches to support individuals with vision and language problems.
Saudabayev holds a bachelor’s degree in computing and a master’s degree in informatics from the University of Edinburgh.
Marco Costa is COO at Causaly, leading go-to-market and operations. He is former CEO of Exclaimer where he delivered 2.5x growth, and also built global operations at Talkdesk. He served as CEO of Critical Software and co-founded Coimbra Genomics. Marco holds an MBA from INSEAD and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Coimbra.
Morgan Bruce is SVP of Engineering at Causaly. He has previously held senior leadership roles at Maze, FNZ and at Onfido, where he scaled a high-performing engineering team to over 100 people across five countries. His experience spans product engineering, infrastructure, machine learning, and delivery of complex, distributed technology platforms.
Margaret Guarino is SVP of Marketing at Causaly, with over 20 years’ experience leading global B2B marketing. She has held senior roles at Incorta, Collibra, KPMG, and S&P, building and scaling high-impact marketing programs that drive customer engagement, market expansion, and revenue growth across complex, data-driven industries.
Guilherme de Oliveira Pinheiro is SVP Sales at Causaly, leading global commercial strategy and revenue growth. He previously served as VP International at Talkdesk, where he scaled go-to-market operations across EMEA and APAC, building and leading high-performing teams and driving expansion into new international markets.
Isra Salim is VP Markets & Solutions, leading Causaly's expansion into new markets, offerings, and partnerships. Previously VP Product, she led the development of the company's AI platform and brings deep product, customer, and technology context. Earlier, she led strategic product and M&A at LexisNexis, and advised clients on growth strategy at Roland Berger.
Liat Shtainberg is VP People at Causaly. She is a senior People and Operations leader with 15+ years in high-growth tech startups and scaleups. Having held leadership roles at Bumble, Trainline, and EO Charging, she specialises in scaling teams, building high-performing cultures, and driving operational excellence across global, fast-paced organisations.
David M. Lee, MD, PhD, is Senior Vice President and Global Head of Immunology at Johnson & Johnson. A physician-scientist and former Harvard researcher, he has led major portfolios at Johnson & Johnson, Roche, and Novartis, advancing innovative therapies for immune-mediated diseases and bringing multiple blockbuster medicines to market.
Marcus Schindler, PhD, is former Chief Scientific Officer and EVP of Research & Early Development at Novo Nordisk, where he led 2,500 scientists globally and 100+ programmes from discovery to early clinical stages. He brings 30 years’ experience advancing drug discovery, innovation, and high-performing organisations across pharma and biotech.
