Sisense lets you join, analyze, and picture data to make more intelligent business decisions and craft effective strategies. The CData JDBC Driver for IBM Cloud Object Storage makes it easy to integrate with IBM Cloud Object Storage data in Sisense. This article shows how to create an ElastiCube that connects to IBM Cloud Object Storage data and use the ElastiCube to visualize IBM Cloud Object Storage data in Sisense.
Before creating the ElastiCube, note the installation location for the JAR file for the JDBC Driver (typically C:\Program Files\CData\CData JDBC Driver for IBM Cloud Object Storage 20XX\lib) or copy the jar file (cdata.jdbc.ibmcloudobjectstorage.IBMCloudObjectStorage.jar) to a new folder in the Sisense JDBC driver directory (typically C:\ProgramData\Sisense\DataConnectors\jdbcdrivers).
If you do not already have Cloud Object Storage in your IBM Cloud account, follow the procedure below to install an instance of SQL Query in your account:
There are certain connection properties you need to set before you can connect. You can obtain these as follows:
To connect with IBM Cloud Object Storage, you need an API Key. You can obtain this as follows:
If you have multiple accounts, specify the CloudObjectStorageCRN explicitly. To find the appropriate value, you can:
You can now set the following to connect to data:
When you connect, the connector completes the OAuth process.
For assistance in constructing the JDBC URL, use the connection string designer built into the IBM Cloud Object Storage JDBC Driver. Either double-click the JAR file or execute the jar file from the command-line.
java -jar cdata.jdbc.ibmcloudobjectstorage.jar
Fill in the connection properties and copy the connection string to the clipboard.
π Using the built-in connection string designer to generate a JDBC URL (Salesforce is shown.)When you configure the JDBC URL, you may also want to set the Max Rows connection property. This will limit the number of rows returned, which is especially helpful for improving performance when designing reports and visualizations.
A typical example follows:
jdbc:ibmcloudobjectstorage:ApiKey=myApiKey;CloudObjectStorageCRN=MyInstanceCRN;Region=myRegion;OAuthClientId=MyOAuthClientId;OAuthClientSecret=myOAuthClientSecret;
Once you are connected to IBM Cloud Object Storage, you can add views to your ElastiCubes.
With IBM Cloud Object Storage tables added to your ElastiCube, you can perform analytics on your IBM Cloud Object Storage data.
With the CData JDBC Driver for IBM Cloud Object Storage, you can access IBM Cloud Object Storage data right in Sisense for powerful visualization and analytics. Download a free, 30-day trial and start working with IBM Cloud Object Storage data in Sisense today!
