CData Connect AI, enables you to access Smartsheet data from cloud-based applications like the Salesforce console and mobile applications like the Salesforce Mobile App. In this article, you will use CData Connect AI and Salesforce Connect to access external Smartsheet objects alongside standard Salesforce objects.
CData provides the easiest way to access and integrate live data from Smartsheet. Customers use CData connectivity to:
Users frequently integrate Smartsheet with analytics tools such as Tableau, Crystal Reports, and Excel. Others leverage our tools to replicate Smartsheet data to databases or data warehouses.
To work with live Smartsheet data in Salesforce Connect, we need to connect to Smartsheet from Connect AI, provide user access to the connection, and create a Workspace for the Smartsheet data.
CData Connect AI uses a straightforward, point-and-click interface to connect to data sources.
Smartsheet uses the OAuth authentication standard. To authenticate using OAuth, register an app to obtain the OAuthClientId, OAuthClientSecret, and CallbackURL connection properties.
However, for testing purposes you can instead use the Personal Access Token you get when you create an application; set this to the OAuthAccessToken connection property.
π Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
After connecting to Smartsheet, create a workspace for your desired table(s).
With the connection, PAT, and Workspace configured, you are ready to connect to Smartsheet data from Salesforce Connect.
Follow the steps below to connect to the feed produced by Connect AI.
After you have created the external data source, follow the steps below to create Smartsheet external objects that reflect any changes in the data source. You will synchronize the definitions for the Smartsheet external objects with the definitions for Smartsheet tables.
After adding Smartsheet data as an external data source and syncing Smartsheet tables as external objects, you can use the external Smartsheet objects just as you would standard Salesforce objects.
