Coin Count is one of Orbulon's microgames in WarioWare: D.I.Y. (where it is known as Coin Cat) and returns as one of Kat & Ana's microgames in WarioWare Gold.
Gameplay[edit]
The goal of the game is to count out the correct coinage into a tray on the left-hand side, corresponding to the price shown on the register display. Counting out the correct coinage will automatically result in a win. If the player does not have the correct coinage in the tray by the time the timer reaches 1, a loss will occur.
In WarioWare: D.I.Y., the coins are paid to a cat, and the price can only be either $1.20 or $2.10; the player is given two 10-cent coins and two $1 coins for the transaction. Tapping on a coin will transfer it between the player's coin purse and the tray. In the Japanese version, ¥10 and ¥100 coins are used; in the European version, either pounds (£) or euro (€) are used depending on the language.
In WarioWare Gold, the microgame has been rethemed: instead of paying a cat from a coin purse, the player has to pay a human cashier from their hand. The amount displayed on the register varies more widely, and it is randomized based on the level. Coins must be dragged with the stylus between the player's hand and the tray. No currency symbols are used; the coins come in denominations of 1, 5, 10, and 25. In non-American versions, a 50-coin is used instead of 25.
WarioWare Gold difficulty levels[edit]
- 1st level difficulty: There are four coins, and two of them have to be used. In the American version, 25-coins do not appear.
- 2nd level difficulty: There are five coins.
- 3rd level difficulty: There are six coins.
Mission[edit]
- Checker Champ: The player has to clear the game just as the price shows up on the register.
"Coin Cat" may allude to the maneki-neko (lit. "beckoning cat"), a common Japanese figurine often believed to bring good luck to its owner, often depicted holding a coin in one of its paws.
