Moving poles[1] are climbable objects in New Super Mario Bros. They are yellow-and-white striped poles that move in a continuous pattern on tracks. Like with ropes and swinging vines, Mario (or Luigi) can grab a moving pole and swing back and forth to gain momentum, then jump off. He can also change the distance he jumps off by moving up or down. Moving poles first appear in World 6-B, in which they need to be swung on and jumped off to cross large pits. Four moving poles also appear in a secret room that contains the second Star Coin in World 7-1.
