Skarn due to contact metamorphism of Hercynian granodiorite and biotite granite into Cambrian marbles. Primary Fe-Cu-Mo-Pb-Zn sulfides and oxides, accompanied by hydrous and anhydrous calc-silicates.

Quarry which extracted carbonates for industrial use, located about 10 km north of the town of Sant Celoni, one of about a dozen in the Gualba quarries district.
