Tectonics: Alluvial Deposits Containing Heavy Minerals.
Deposit: Negro creek drains an area containing several gold and chromite deposits of the blewett camp. Bedrock of the area includes ultramafic rocks of the ingalls complex (tabor and others, 1982). ; info.src : 1 pub lit
Deposit type: Placer Au-PGE
Development: Econ.com: produced $100 prior to 1897 (huntting, 1956, p. 181). Platinum was also found about 6 miles upstream from the mouth of negro creek. Only a small amount was (reportedly) produced (huntting, 1956, p. 281)
Ore(s): Heavy Minerals Were Concentrated By Stream Action. Several Pieces Of Nearly Pure Chromite Weighing About 3 Pounds Each Were Reported (Huntting, 1956, P. 37) From Negro Creek In The Sw1/4 Of Sec. 12, 22n, 16e
