An important gold mining district with a production of approximately 57,845 oz. The most important mine company in this area, by far, was the Richardson Gold Mining Company (1892-1903), later the Boston-Richardson Mining Company (1903-1908). The property was later operated by the New England Mining Company. The other major mine company was the Dolliver Mountain Mining and Milling Company, which ran a mine from 1901-1905.

From 'Gold: A Nova Scotia Treasure', the discovery of gold in the area was made by Joseph Hynes on September 14, 1861. The area was active from 1862-1958, with a total production of 13,1728 oz (need to resolve discrepancy with the figure above โ€” might depend on district definition).

The mine also shipped hundreds of tons of arsenic concentrates to Belgium in 1907-08 (Report of the Department of Mines 1908) and perhaps later.
