The Gedarif State in Sudan is also spelled as Gadaref, Gadarif, Qadārif, Al Qadarif.

The alkaline basalts of the eastern sector of the Gedaref area were formed as a consequence of major volcanic eruptions. One conspicuous feature of these rocks is the frequent occurrence of complex zeolitic species as well as other secondary minerals (e.g., carbonates and phyllosilicates) in vesicles, veins, and cavities, often in the form of large, euhedral crystals. [1]
