Low temperature hydrothermal-metasomatic (skarnoid) iron deposit.

The Jingxiatiekuang iron deposit, also referred to as mining area โ…ก of the Gongchangling iron deposit, contains ore-hosting strata belonging to the Cigou Formation of the Neoarchean Anshan Group. The lithology of the Cigou Formation comprises mainly plagioclase amphibolite, biotite leptynite, biotite amphibolite plagioclase gneiss, amphibolite schist, chlorite schist, tremolite schist, biotite albite leptynite, monzonitic aplite, and magnetite quartzite. These rocks constitute a set of metamorphic rocks formed via regional metamorphism in the low amphibolite phase. The Jingxiatiekuang iron deposit is controlled by the NEE-trending Hanling fault and the NE-trending Laoling fault. In the tectonic zone, the iron ore layer and its surrounding rocks are monoclinic, and the two ends of the iron ore layer are obviously influenced by fault structures, resulting in relatively high variations in their occurrence.
The iron ore bodies of the Jingxiatiekuang iron deposit consist of six layers, which can be divided into the upper iron ore-bearing zone, the lower iron ore-bearing zone, and the intervening biotite leptynite zone. The lower iron ore-bearing zone includes the first iron ore layer (Fe1) and the second iron ore layer (Fe2), with amphibolite layers intercalated between them. Within the middle biotite leptynite zone, the third iron ore layer (Fe3) is intercalated, while the upper iron ore-bearing zone includes the fourth (Fe4), fifth (Fe5), and sixth iron ore layers (Fe6). The main high-grade magnetite ore body in this area is located in the sixth iron ore layer, which constitutes 77.1 % of the total reserves of high-grade magnetite ores in the area. The high-grade magnetite ore bodies are mainly vein-like, layer-like and agglomerated iron ore bodies in low-grade iron ore bodies, which exceed than 1, 000 m in length, range from 5 โˆผ 30 m in thickness, and extend to elevation shallower than โˆ’500 m. It extends over 4800 m in length and varies from 100 to 700 m in width. The Anshan Groupโ€™s Cigou Formation, which hosts the BIF iron ore, consists of a metamorphosed volcanic-sedimentary sequence. From the base upward, it is divided into six units. A total of 138 high-grade iron ore bodies have been identified in the mining area. They are primarily hosted in the sixth iron layer (Fe6), accounting for 77.1% of the total high-grade reserves, followed by the siliceous rock layer (S) at 13.5%. The remaining layers each contribute less than 6.5%. The high-grade ore averages 70% TFe and typically occurs as stratiform, stratoid, or vein-like bodies within or adjacent to banded magnetite quartzite, with an attitude generally conformable to the host rocks.
