The Ogima Mining Company was organized in 1860 after approximately 115,000 pounds of copper was removed from ancient mining pits located on the property. Mining work began in 1860 and by 1868, three shafts had been sunk, as well as several surface improvements completed. The mine closed in 1868. Through 1887, the mine was leased to tributors who recovered additional copper, bringing the total in 25 years of mining on the site to 491 tons. The mine was absorbed by the Mass Consolidated Mining Company in 1899. The mine has produced some very nice copper, silver, and a few datolites over the years.
