Gem mining in gravels, started 2003.
Zircon and sapphire from minor felsic melts during lesser thermal activity. Ruby from Barrington volcano is of metamorphic/metasomatic origin associated with basement ultramafic bodies.

The lease area for this mine covers is large and encompasses an area between 31.50 South and 32.00 South and between 151.25 East and 151.35 East.
Much of the area is swamp or previous swamp land located around the Gummi River.
