Structure: Complex Folding And Faulting Of Shale

Alteration: Argillization, Silicification.

Commodity: Colors range from pale to dark solid blue, without green tints; hard (up to 7.0); also spider-web turquoise

Deposit: Most turquoise is within 40-ft wide zone of numerous shears, associated with minor argillization and silicification.

Development: Originally prospected for copper. Hand hired 2 miners (jack montgomery & al stevens) to mine in 1920's; in 1927 he leased the property to bert kopenhaver, who sank a shaft on the vein. In 1928, hand sold a half interest to "doc" wilson and the shaft was deepened to 85 ft. In 1935 hand sold his remaining half interest to wilson. Stones were shipped to sangabriel where they were cut. The largest nugget from the mine was 4 in by 3 in by 0.75 in.
