The Xikeng granite is mainly comprised of two-mica granite and muscovite (lepidolite) granite. Lithium was progressively enriched from the former to latter. The muscovite granite and its regolith contain over 32 Mt at a grade of 0.4โ€“4 % Li2O. Texturally, it can be classified into fineโ€“ and mediumโ€“ to fineโ€“grained structures. The lithology consists of quartz, K-feldspar, plagioclase, muscovite, and accessory minerals (zircon, apatite, topaz, rutile, cassiterite, magnetite, and columbite-group minerals) with ca. 138.45 Ma of age constrained by lepidolite 40Ar/39Ar dating. Lithium is mainly concentrated in muscovite, accompanied by minor amblygonite-montebrasite and cookeite within the granite.
