The primary strata exposed at the Zhouwu deposit encompass the Devonian Laohutou Formation and Qiziqiao Formation, along with Quaternary sediments. The Laohutou Formation predominantly consists of siltstone, mudstone, and quartz sandstone. The Qiziqiao Formation primarily comprises mudstone, crystalline limestone, and clayey limestone, with occasional intercalations of bioclastic limestone and carbonaceous mudstone. Notably, the lower section of the Qiziqiao Formation represents a transitional zone between carbonate strata and clastic rock strata, wherein these two distinct lithologies are observed in alternating or interbedded configurations. Magmatic rocks are exposed in a limited area in the northwestern region of the Zhouwu district, close to the Jinmen Reservoir, spanning an approximate total area of 1 km2. The dominant lithologies are granodiorite and biotite monzogranite. Notably, the Jinmen granodiorite exhibits pronounced contact metamorphism with the Devonian strata, resulting in extensive hornfels and skarn alteration. The paragenesis of the Zhouwu deposit are categorized into four distinct stages: (I) garnet-pyroxene alteration stage, (II) iron oxide ore stage, (III) sulfide ore stage, and (IV) carbonate stage.
