A former silica deposit/mine located in sec. 3, T5S, R11E and/or in sec. 35, T4S, R11E, SBM, on the extreme western tip of the Eagle Mountains, E of Smoke Tree Well and E & S of Smoke Tree Wash (3 miles N of Cottonwood Springs), on National Park Service land (Joshua Tree National Park). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.

Mineralization is hosted in granite. The ore body is irregular at a width of 6.1 meters and a length of 91.44 meters. The deposit is a quartz outcrop in the granite (98.6% SiO2).Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.

Workings include surface openings with a length of 30.48 meters and an overall depth of 60.96 meters and comprised of an open cut.

Production data: 1935: 300 tons shipped.
