A metamorphically-altered diorite. Sometimes incorrectly used for metamorphosed gabbro or dolerite.

Not to be confused with pseudodiorite: certain metamorphic rocks that resemble diorite, but which may have been the result of the metamorphism of sedimentary rocks.
