Sent in today for the ongoing Linux 6.16 kernel cycle as part of the input subsystem fixes is enabling support for the Acer Nitro Gaming Controller (NGR200).

The Acer Nitro Gaming Controller is an Xbox 360 style gaming controller for Windows and Android gaming. And with Linux 6.16 -- and potentially for back-porting to prior kernel versions -- is mainline kernel support. The Acer Nitro Gaming Controller NGR200 retails for just about $35 USD or even as low as $25 from Amazon.com (affiliate link).

Supporting the Acer Nitro Gaming Controller NGR200 requires just adding the new vendor/device ID entries to the XPad input driver that is commonly used for supporting a wide variety of Xbox compatible gaming controllers. With just needing the new vendor/device ID added, it's safe for merging during the current Linux 6.16 kernel cycle (and for easy back-porting) rather than waiting for the v6.17 merge window since it doesn't risk breaking any existing hardware support.

This Acer Nitro Gaming Controller support should in turn be upstreamed later today as part of the input fixes pull request for the week.
