Linux 6.18 To Enable Both Touchscreens On The AYANEO Flip DS Dual-Screen Handheld

Sent out today were a set of input subsystem fixes for the near-final Linux 6.18 kernel. A bit of a notable addition via this "fixes" pull is getting both touchscreens working on the AYANEO Flip DS, a dual-screen gaming handheld device that can be loaded up with Linux.

The AYANEO Flip DS is a dual-screen handheld gaming device that features a 7-inch 120Hz IPS display and a smaller 3.5-inch touch display as well. The device is powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U SoC. This dual-screen gaming handheld device retails for around $1100 USD.

While the AYANEO Flip DS ships with Windows 11 by default, it was reported earlier this year by a user when loading Linux on it that only one of the two touchscreens was working.

That should now be fixed with the latest input code for Linux 6.18. It turns out the patch to the Goodix touchscreen driver simply added a new "GDIX1003" device ID. With that one-liner, both touchscreens should now be working under Linux.

Besides the AYANEO Flip DS, this may help other Goodix touchscreens as well. This is the most notable change of today's input pull request for the Linux 6.18 kernel.
