Following the COSMIC Alpha 6 release from February, System76 today released COSMIC Alpha 7 as their last planned alpha release for this open-source, Rust-written desktop environment designed around the needs of their Pop!_OS Linux distribution.

COSMIC Alpha 7 is their last planned release before moving to the beta period of the COSMIC desktop. It's been a long journey but they are finally moving closer to the beta and stable releases of this intriguing open-source desktop built around Rust and Wayland.

COSMIC Alpha 7 brings improvements to workspaces, various accessibility features have been added like high contrast mode and color filters, tooltips are now working throughout COSMIC, compatibility for global shortcuts, scaling optimizations, shortcut improvements, and dozens of bug fixes.
