Evaluating The Performance Cost To AMD SEV-SNP On Modern EPYC VMs
For most HPC workloads you will find AMD EPYC 9005 with SEV-SNP has relatively little performance cost compared to the benefits of the confidential computing protections provided by it, especially for modern public cloud environments.
In the memroy-heavy HPC workloads the cost can be a bit higher but again nothing too unexpected or off base from what's been indicated as expected performance costs to using SEV-SNP.
For most of the heavy CPU workloads tested, the overhead was quite minimal and for those concerned about data security would be a very acceptable cost to the added protections provided by SEV-SNP.
