AMD EPYC Turin 128 Core Comparison: EPYC 9745 "Zen 5C" vs. EPYC 9755 "Zen 5"
First up were a number of code compilation benchmarks. As expected, the EPYC 9755 was understandably the front runner but the EPYC 9745 made up of the 128 Zen 5C cores weren't too far behind the full Zen 5 cores.
But for those with high energy rates or just trying to make for optimal energy efficiency, when looking at the CPU and system power consumption and in turn the performance-per-Watt is where the EPYC 9745 is really able to shine.
For sacrificing a small amount of the build speed with the EPYC 9745 was a very compelling performance-per-Watt advantage over the EPYC 9755.
Across all of the different codebases tested, it was a compelling story of being able to illustrate the performance-per-Watt advantage of the EPYC 9745 with the dense 128 cores compared to the EPYC 9755 performance with the full Zen 5 cores at the same core/thread count.
