AMD Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360 Linux Performance With The Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 6
With the Blender 4.4 3D modeling software the performance out-of-the-box for the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 was well behind the Ryzen 7 7840U and even just faintly ahead of the Zen 3 era Ryzen 7 PRO 6850U. But as you can see from looking at the CPU power metrics, the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 out-of-the-box is running this Strix Point SoC with a reduced power envelope in order to keep thermals low and competitive performance-per-Watt.
Going into this testing I wasn't expecting the Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360 to be running behind the Ryzen 7 7840U, but at least after looking at the CPU power consumption does make sense. For those wondering about the performance uplift when running in the performance platform profile if that's able to make a significant benefit, that will be coming in a follow-up article in the coming days. For this initial article this is just the out-of-the-box performance for all these laptops on Ubuntu 25.04.
