It largely comes down to what workloads are most important to you for how much sense the Ryzen 9 7950X3D makes or not compared to the frequency-optimized Ryzen 9 7950X and its higher default TDP rating.
For those running HPC workloads from their desktops, the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D can make a lot of sense....
While the power consumption on the Ryzen 9 7950X3D is much lower than the 7950X and Core i9 13900K processors.
The 3D V-Cache also was useful for the ClickHouse database software.
