The AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D with its separate cache and frequency optimized CCDs did lead to a number of losses against the Ryzen 9 7950X in the areas outside of gaming but for some workloads the big L3 cache still paid off...

In the case of BRL-CAD, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D was slower than the Ryzen 9 7950X but when it came to power efficiency ended up being the best option of the tested CPUs.

The Ryzen 9 7950X3D did manage to deliver the best performance in a number of the AI benchmarks with Microsoft's ONNX Runtime.

The AMD Ryzen 7000 series desktop processors perform excellent with Intel's OpenVINO thanks to the double-pumped AVX-512 implementation while here the AMD 3D V-Cache with the Ryzen 9 7950X3D wasn't able to provide any extra benefit at large.

With a few select cases, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D did excel over the Ryzen 9 7950X with OpenVINO AI.
