Catalyst On Ubuntu 14.04 Linux Competes Well With Windows 8.1

The Unigine Sanctuary results were a bit more strange than the Heaven data. Besides the R9 290 not running well with Unigine Sanctuary on Windows 8.1 but fine under Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, with the HD 7950, R7 260X, and R9 270X the Windows performance was much higher than Linux. In fact, the R7 260X on Windows 8.1 was faster than the R9 290 for this Unigine Sanctuary tech demo.
Like Unigine Sanctuary, the Unigine Tropics results were a bit odd too with the GCN graphics cards running much faster on Windows 8.1 than Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with Catalyst 14.4 while the Radeon HD 6000 series graphics cards and earlier were delivering about the same frame-rates under Windows and Linux.
