Intel Core Ultra 9 285K "Arrow Lake" Linux Performance Up ~9% One Year Later At ~85% Power Use
For the codebases that using the same 2024 version would build fine with GCC 15.2 on Ubuntu 25.10, the latest Linux software stack was typically compiling code faster on this Core Ultra 9 285K. This isn't always a given as often new compiler releases will add more compiler passes/optimizations to enhance the performance of the generated code, but it's nice seeing build times improving still for the Core Ultra 9.
The CPU power usage was also slightly lower in some of the runs compared to the launch state.
In some benchmarks like 7-Zip, the performance and power were unchanged since launch.
Overall though across a variety of workloads tested, there were some sizable performance and power efficiency improvements made over the past year for the Core Ultra 9 285K.
