👁 Framework 16 upgrade

Upgrading my Framework Laptop 16 review unit from the Ryzen 7 7840HS to Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 along with the Radeon to NVIDIA dGPU conversion and upgraded keyboard was a pain-free experience... Just as easy as with the Framework Laptop 13.

The upgrade experience was trouble-free and straight-forward. Upgrading or doing a DIY build can be easily done in 30~60 minutes depending upon your prior experience with Framework Laptops.

With the AMD Strix Point hardware there also wasn't any surprises when it came to the Linux support. Thanks to the AMD Ryzen AI 300 series having mature Linux support and being in good shape since launch, no real surprises but the hardware can work fine on modern Linux distributions. Same for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 graphics too -- just make sure to use the packaged NVIDIA Linux driver for the best support/performance.

With the Linux support in good shape, let's jump to the performance and CPU power benchmark numbers for this upgraded Framework Laptop 16 to the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. Ubuntu 25.04 was used for these benchmarks just as that's what I have built up all the laptop data (re)testing over the past few months on Ubuntu 25.04 with Linux 6.14. The Framework Laptop 16 upgrade also worked fine on Fedora Workstation 43, Ubuntu 25.10, and other modern Linux distributions.
